Yes, it is a good school. It is ranked somewhere near 100, and recently made the list of Top 50 Go-To Law Schools. If rankings are your metric for evaluation, it is definitely respectable. Median LSAT is somewhere in the 150's. In terms of location, Birmingham is indubitably the most relevant city in Alabama in terms of networking, clerkships, and future jobs. University of Alabama has a slight competitive disadvantage to Cumberland for that reason--located in Tuscaloosa about 50 minutes away from Birmingham, UA students have a harder time creating meaningful relationships with employers as easily as Cumberland students. However, UA is an exceptional institution--I am not trying to take anything away from their reputation. By far, Cumberland's faculty and curriculum are the school's bulwark. It is a known fact that Cumberland grads come out of law school well-trained and ready to work, with special emphasis on the skill of legal writing.
