He's actually a Jack Russell Terrier because the Wire Fox Terrier's muzzle is too long and skinny, and the Jack Russell's muzzle is shorter.
In general, the toy fox terrier is smaller than the fox terrier, with proportionately smaller features.
There are different variations of the wired-haired terrier, I posted a link for a wire haired Fox Terrier. The "wire-hair" comes from their hair spiraling or looking like wires coming from their skin. It is neither smooth nor long. gets only about 1-2 inches in length and can look like little curls or spirals. You can go to www.google.com , select images, and type in "wire haired terrier" and see the pictures of the different variations.

This is a difficult question to answer because there are so many different breeds such as the Jack Russell, Pit Bull, wire-haired Terriers, etc. Many were bred in Wales, England, Scotland, etc. It appears the origin of the full bred Terrier cannot be pinned down. Horse Isle Answer: England
