yes but it has to be dried for about three years... then it will burn quickly, giving off medium heat... but the resin will be a problem if you don't clean your chimney regularly.

Why are you getting a downdraft in your wood burning stove?

A house can be made so tight that negative pressure can develop inside. Try opening a door or window near by when you try to light the stove. This should equalize the pressure between the house and the outside. You should be able to start the updraft.

What is stove drawing as in how to improve the draw of a wood-burning stove to help it burn better?

A clean chimney, shortest possible stovepipe with fewest bends. Chimney should extend higher than anything close to it. Be sure dampers are open. You may need "make up" air- air going up the flue had to come from somewhere. You may need to crack a window in a very tight house.

If metal expands when hot why do the iron knobs on the wood burning stove get tight when it cools?

When the metal parts are being heated they do not all expand at the same rate depending on size and even on the composition of the metal and what type of alloy's are being used for the handle and the base unit. When cooled all the parts will return to their manufactured size and shape because the metal will contract again as it cools. In this instance with a stove if you were to supercool the entire stove that handle would probably contract so much that you wouldn't be able to even open the door.

How do you get the right gasket for a Sears wood burning stove?

I used the Rutland Grapho-Glas 1/2" - 5/8" X 60" ROPE gasket on my old Sears Circulator Wood/Coal Heater, Model # 143.84082. The 5/8" Braided would not give it a proper air-tight seal.

What is a Taiwan pot belly stove worth?

SCRAP IT! You will be doing your family a great service! They are really for decor only! If you over heat, it will shatter, sending hot coals all over your floor! DO NOT try to make air tight! You will regret it! Stove are made this way for a reason, they need lots of air to stay cool! Air tight stoves are welded at seams!
