Dr. C.V. Raman University has been set up by the All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT). This University has been named after the first Nobel Laureate of the country in the field of Science, Dr. C.V. Raman. The University is located at Kota Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh). The University has been notified on 3rd November 2006 and Shri Santosh Choubey has been appointed as its first Chancellor. Dr. A. S. Zadgaonkar has become the first Vice Chancellor and Shri Shailesh Pandey has taken over as the Registrar of the University.
The All India Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT) is the sponsoring organization of Dr. C. V. Raman University.
AISECT is a leading I.T. Training and Educational Services network of India, supporting a large number of Information Technology Centres essentially engaged in training, servicing and info services, specially in the field of Computers and Electronics. Presently, the organization has its spread in 29 states of the country.
The Multipurpose I.T. Centre Model of AISECT has been accepted as a unique methodology for sustainability in rural and under developed regions and is widely followed now both by the Govt. and the Industry. It was first replicated under a joint DST-DOE All India Co-ordinated programme in ten states and since then, has spread out to 29 states.
AISECT's work was first listed in the IIM(A) - World Bank Institute's report in 1999 as a successful strategy and has since than received the Indian Innovation Award 2005, NASSCOM I.T. Innovation Award 2006, i4d Award 2007 and Golden Icon in National e-Governance Award.
AISECT has built up an online training system for imparting training of various professional and school level courses and has a content creation group, which develops contents in the Indian Languages.
AISECT shall provide technical support to Dr. C. V. RAMAN UNIVERSITY.
