As a long time rider of both disciplines, I would have to say that English saddles are harder to ride in.
English saddles require more balance in the stirrups and more is expected of the rider when riding this discipline.
Western saddles seem to have a much deeper seat; they also have a more laid back style of riding, where there is less requirement of the rider to focus on how one sits in the saddle. There is also something to hold onto; the horn, which is not present on an English saddle.
In the horse world, you can have many types of saddles, but the two basic saddles are English and western. There is a cross between the two of them, but not as much people ride in them. The western saddle is much bigger and heavier than the English one, and has a horn. The cross is shaped as a western saddle, but does not have a horn.
They rode them on English saddles and or with quilted blankets.
Of course you can teach a western horse to ride english.
You can ride pigs with saddles. Their movement can be controlled with a carrot on a stick
There are 2 styles of riding. English riding, and western riding. Both styles have different techniques, signals, and tack (saddles, bridles, etc.) And there are certain competitive sports you can do depending on which style you ride.
I think it's when the horse rider can ride western and english.
your not sopose to. but yes if it is a thin smaller saddle pad you may. you can NOT! i repeat NOT! aloud to use a English pad for a western saddle as this pad may be too small for the saddle and with bridged the withers and back of the horse. be carefull on what you use on your horse! i reqamend to buy a western saddle pad if you are planing to ride western.
Yes, the older they are, the harder it will be though!
The best way to ride a horse is to evaluate what that particular horse is built and bred for. The ability of the rider is also important. A bad rider can injure a horse more than what seat a rider uses. Also, considering what sport you are in may help you to determine which saddle you prefer to use. Obviously if you are a jumper you would be better in an English saddle, and if you are a barrel racer, you would most likely use a western saddle.
You can ride a pig with them.
yes
The type of saddle you use will not create any notable difference in the smoothness of your ride. However different saddles can give you a more secure seat. Western saddles give you better support than english saddles. However if you have a horse with bumpy gaits no saddle can fix that. its the way your horse was made. If you are looking for a smooth horse breed i recomened Paso finos. i have ridden several different gaited horse breeds, and none even come close to the smoothness of the Paso. Hope this Helps!
