Yes, they also have some screamo songs such as "10 miles wide" so I would say that anyone who listens to them regularly could be called an emo.
NO! That answer above is completely wrong, you do not have to be emo to listen to ETF, that is just a messed up untrue statement. Emo is a type of music, and short for emotional, it is a stereotype actually. Thousands listen to ETF and they are not all "emo" or scene, music is music and is here for you to enjoy it. Saying anyone who listens to ETF is emo is calling me emo, which would make me a poser and I am not emo or scene, nor a poser, I just happen to like the band ETF.
Emo is a state of mind, not a fashion statement. So therefor if the band members from Escape the Fate are suicidal then you could call them emo but they all seem stable to me.
Actually, emo stands for 'emotive hardcore', a genre of music. Nowdays it IS a label, but by saying it means 'emotional' you are just adding to the stereotype. Escape the Fate isn't that emo. It does make for some good listening, though.
FACT: listening to ETF does not make you emo or scene. labels are for cereal boxes not people:)
So how about we all agree to disagree and respect each others differences<3
