HaShem in Hebrew literally means "The Name" and is used in place of G-d by observant Jews who believe that not writing His name is a sign of respect (which is also why many Jewish people prefer to write G-d, like I just did).
Hashim is an Arabic given name and, as you say, the name of one of Prophet Muhammed's forebears. Its meaning is usually given as "destroyer of evil" or "one who is generous to others."
