A pretty high proportion of people who is under a lot of stress, may develop hyperglycemia.

hyperglycemia could be caused by an infection or inflammation, as well as the usual reasons.

You can also get it from some drugs, such as beta-blockers and some others I can't remember the name of.

Someone I know suffer's from it :-(

How to avoid or treat a hyperglycemia?

Hyperglycemia is caused by too much carbohydrates, not enough insulin or periods of illness and stress. You can avoid it by balancing your carb to insulin ratio, and treat it with insulin.

The hyperglycemia caused by stress would lead to an increased secretion of insulin, which would than lower blood glucose. As a consequence, the blood glucose would not be sustained to deal with continued stress.

Can pain medicine cause high blood sugar?

Research in 2006 and 2007 (USA and Canada) says nerve pain triggers diabetes and that inflammation (which usually accompanies pain) causes diabetes too. Arguably, hyperglycemia "is" diabetes. (And, arguably, it's not.) Most medics say hyperglycemia causes inflammation. But it happens the other way around too - ie. inflammation causes hyperglycemia. Chicken and egg thing. World Health Org says 'stress hyperglycemia' (non-diabetic hyperglycemia) lasts as long as the 'stress' lasts - and that includes physical stress - ie. pain. So - yes - it seems pain causes hyperglycemia (whether diabetes is present or not). Ergo: whatever condition is causing the pain, it's obviously better for long term health to cure it ASAP - while hyperglycemia may still be reversible. Medics say "but in a non-diabetic, insulin would reduce the hyperglycemia". Hum. But inflammation (and the pain that goes with it) also causes insulin-resistance. The insulin can't work properly because of the inflammation. Seems to me there's insufficient research in this area (and Lord knows I've looked).

What is the abnormally high concentration of glucose in the blood?

Hyperglycemia, a major sign/symptom of diabetes, defined as blood glucose over 105 mg/dL. Diabetes cannot be diagnosed until there are several consistent readings of hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia can be caused by other things such as certain steroids, so just because a person shows hyperglycemia once does not mean that they have diabetes, a condition related to the destruction of or a lack of certain cells in the pancreas.

Can stress cause bacterial vaginosis?

Stress does not cause infection - bacteria and viruses are responsible causes. However any studies have indicates that a weakened immune system from stress can increase your risk of infection. This is not significant change but it is demonstrable in medical studies.Stress can also impact your ability to overcome an infection and to stop the section while it is a minor problem. You need an immune system fired up and ready to fight. Stress and anxiety weakens the immune system so that your body has less ability to prevent or recover from an infection.
