AnswerNo,It is the opposite. The Quran authenticity; and accordingly the truthfulness of Islam;is proved through the many scientific statements mentioned in Quran that their correctness and validation were made possible only with the current advances in science and technology.

Islam religion and science were always going hand in hand and in support to each other. Islam encouraged strongly scintists and science research. it is believed in Islam that the more science is progressed the more people will be knowing God through His creations and His creatures. People who are more knowledgeable of sciences are more rewarded by God.

Quran says (with meaning English translation):

[Quran, chapter 39, verse 9]

[Quran, chapter 35, verse 28]

"Soon will We show them our signs and proofs in the furthest universe horizons and in themselves until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth (Allah, Quran, Islam religion)"[Quran, chapter 41, verse 53]

The Islam religion encouragement to science research and scientists, opposite to other religions at that time, is very clear in the Islamic civilizations and Islam contributions to science and technology before the western civilization.

Moreover, Qur'an included lots of scientific statements that was only proved by the current state of art of science and information. These statements deal with scientific issues about universe, clouds, mountains, seas, pregnancy, earth, ... etc. They are considered as Qur'n scientific miracles because of their revelation in the seventh century (Qur'an revelation started in year 610 AD) while they were possible to be validated and proved only with the current state-of-art of knowledge, science and discoveries. This is considered as one of the proofs that the holy book Qur'an was a revelation from God to Prophet Mohamed and that Qur'an was not authored by a human-being or extracted from other human-being authored documents, as some may claim.

If you mean whether they're related, then yes. Islam has sth to do with science and the other way. A scientist once studied the Quran to find anything wrong with it. Instead, there was nothing wrong about the Quran, and so the scientist accepted Islam.

Why do Muslims generally regard science as being in conflict with their faith?

If you believe that the religion of Islam has all the answers to everything, then you don't need science. Either science is going to agree with Islam in which case it is superfluous, or it going to disagree in which case it is heretical. Either way, science loses. I should note that there is an effort by Muslims to create Islamic science, showing how science can be used to confirm the teachings of Islam. This is not unlike the Christian study of "creation science". In the end, everybody does want science on their side, but science must be subservient to religion, of you are a religious fanatic, as many people are.
