It sure is. Lawrence is an old mill city, always a city of immigrants. Some say that the "ghetto" started when the new wave of hispanic immigrants came. (LITTLE KNOWN FACT) the Irish and Italian gangs were just as dangerous in old times. The large quanities of low income housing, run down old rental properties and shooting give it a bad name but Lawrence can be a great place if you dont go to the wrong place at the wrong time of day.
