Modern warfare 3 was never cancelled and is coming out when planned on November 8 2011 for the PC PS3 and Xbox 360. Infinity Ward and Treyarch alternate on release years and have since Call of Duty 3 in November 2006. The next Treyarch unnamed game will be out in November 2012 and no sooner

The Cod 4 and MW2 are not the same game as the Modern Warfare Reflex Edition for Nintendo Wii and it is expected some new form of the game will be released for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS when Modern Warfare 3 is released for the PS3 PC and Xbox 360 in November 2011

Unfortunately no, you can't play multiplayer on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 or on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on the same screen. But on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare Black Ops you can play multiplayer on the same screen. There is an new Call of Duty Black Ops 2 coming out soon though, so I expect that to also have that feature, since its newer.
