There are those who think very highly of NYLF. Others do not. However, it is not a "scam" in the sense that they take your money and give you nothing.
It is obvious that those who get the invites are not "specially chosen" or an "elite," and colleges that the children apply to later are not going to give any large amount of extra consideration to the child simply for them having attended seminars.
The seminars cost a great deal of money. They are not necessarily bad seminars; opinions vary. Many think they are not worth the amount charged. Some feel they are worth the amount. There is no extra benefit to it that will get your child into a better college.
although students are chosen for this i have spoken to many teachers about this, and they all came to the same conclusion that it indeed is not a scam.
No. Not at all. All the National Youth leadership forums and conferences are legitimate programs that help support the desire to learn and become better. They aren't exactly a wow factor for college applications, but they are quite life changing to say the least.
No, it's not a scam. I haven't been there yet, but I'm in 7th grade and I was one of the top 3 students that my math teacher has nominated to the conference. Cost is expensive, $1800, but the cost is worth it.
It is pure bunk and a scam.
