It normally takes a year or two between Metroid games as of late, so with the release of Other M in 2010, it means a new game could be announced this year or next, and chances are said game would be released in 2012 or 2013. P.S. This whole post is just purely conjecture, so I may as well add that they will probably make it cross-compatible between 3DS and Wii U; like the new Smash Brothers game.

There can't be a Metroid Prime 4, cause all phazon and dark samus was destroyed thereby closing the curtain on the prime series which focused on these things and Nintendo have released that there won't be prime four but they will make other metroid games like metroid other m coming out later 2010
