OPEC wants gas prices to be higher so that its member nations can profit more from oil.
* Definitely * Actually no, the president is not to blame for the high gas prices. Although most people think that he is, he is not. OPEC countries are to blame. They control the supply of oil, which means that they also control the price of it! The price of oil per barrel has increased in the past few years. In 2005 the price for one barrel was $50. Now, it is almost $95! Gas prices are raising so we can afford the high oil prices. So don't blame the president for the gas prices; it's out of his hands! * Then take a look at OPEC's own opinion http://www.topix.com/forum/world/TUAR2I5RQ79EGSC1T#comments * Well environmentalists could be blamed as well. Actually there are lots of resources for oil but the access to it is very restricted. Environmentalists would disallow the access to this resources for the reasons that some animals or some environment would be affected. For example, the construction of sources for alternative energy, the wind mill, are objected by the environmentalists because they say that this would hurt some birds. This environmentalists disallows us to drill for our own oil so we have to buy it from other countries.
Gas prices are high everywhere nowdays because it is getting harder to find it.
Strictly controls all the elderly people and how they produce oil
Because no one wants to buy it due high prices.

People are upset about gas prices because gas is currently over $4 a gallon, which they find ridiculous. Many people remember when gas was 30 cents a gallon. Gas prices are high for a number of reasons. For starters, most of the world's oil comes out of the OPEC nations, most of which are located in the Middle East. With all of the unrest in the Middle East, the people who control the flow of oil are nervous, so they raise the price. Also, the OPEC nations simply aren't producing as much oil these days, and the amount of oil available determines the price.

Strictly controls all the elderly people and how they produce oil
He thinks they are to high to so he is going to lower the prices of gas
"The current british gas prices are very high. They start off with 10 pounds a galon. If you are not willing to pay super high gas prices like in London, you may have to relocate."
Because no one wants to buy it due high prices.

To control the production of oil
No. Gas prices have not caused this recession. This is because of the severe credit crunch.
No. The regular American is paying more for gas due to the War in Iraq and the decisions of OPEC concerning how much petroleum to produce. There is also pressure from India and China who are increasing consumption and driving up the price.
