* Definitely * Actually no, the president is not to blame for the high gas prices. Although most people think that he is, he is not. OPEC countries are to blame. They control the supply of oil, which means that they also control the price of it! The price of oil per barrel has increased in the past few years. In 2005 the price for one barrel was $50. Now, it is almost $95! Gas prices are raising so we can afford the high oil prices. So don't blame the president for the gas prices; it's out of his hands! * Then take a look at OPEC's own opinion http://www.topix.com/forum/world/TUAR2I5RQ79EGSC1T#comments
* Well environmentalists could be blamed as well. Actually there are lots of resources for oil but the access to it is very restricted. Environmentalists would disallow the access to this resources for the reasons that some animals or some environment would be affected. For example, the construction of sources for alternative energy, the wind mill, are objected by the environmentalists because they say that this would hurt some birds. This environmentalists disallows us to drill for our own oil so we have to buy it from other countries.
OPEC wants gas prices to be higher so that its member nations can profit more from oil.
No sir
We don't know yet for sure but his energy advisor, Steven Chu, has said numerous times that gas prices should be increased to help "curb global warming". In the summer of 2008, Chu stated that we needed to raise the tax on gas to get it to be the price of gas in Europe to make people drive less. The price of gas was $8 a gallon in Europe at the time. Whether Obama would attempt such a strategy is unknown. Obama has never said he wanted gas prices to be lower, even dismissing eliminating the gas tax during times of high priced gas. Obama most likely will increase gas prices, but not to the extent Chu advises. be looking for the $5.00 gallon gas this summer, the change occurring in May.
The increase in gas prices has an impact on everything, literally. Company's that ship merchandise, receive merchandise, provide services, etc, have to account for the increase expense of gas in order to "move" their products. The increase in gas price is an increase in expense for the company, in order to compensate for this increase in expense, the company must raise their prices to still be able to meet Sales and Profit Margins. This increase in expense is past on to us by higher food cost, higher shipping cost, higher cost in anything a consumer purchases.
I am sure he would like them to be lower. He has also said he would like the United States to be more energy independent as well as using more energy from wind and solar power. Unfortunately, while it is common to blame presidents for the high price of gas, whether under President Bush or President Obama, gas and oil prices often fluctuate, due to production overseas as well as economic conditions in world markets, high demand, oil-producing nations setting prices higher during periods of peak demand, etc.
Since when did the president control the gas prices? The President can't control the gas prices. The only way the gas prices will go down is when gas companies can buy the gas for less.

no.
Gas prices increase when the demand increases compared to the supply, or when the cost of oil increases (due to demand, or if raised arbitrarily by the producers).
it had something to do with taxes
McCain is not the president. That is not the answer he is looking for......

First, it is not our job to "attack" anyone. We are an informational site. We answer questions and try to be fair and accurate in our answers. That said, food prices fluctuate, as do gas prices. Nearly every president in the modern age has seen these prices go up, and then come back down. While it is good politics to blame the sitting president (for example, since President Bush had close ties to the oil industry, when oil prices rose, he was criticized by his political opponents), it is often a simplistic view of a more complicated problem. To accurately assess the reason for high food prices, you need to factor in droughts, natural disasters, and international economic problems, all of which affect what we pay. And while the president's policies may also play a role, they are rarely the only reason for the price of a commodity like gas or a loaf of bread. Thus, while you seem to want to blame Mr. Obama for these matters, it is not clear that he alone is the cause.
Higher gas prices, more tax money.
