Paul McCartney could "retire" certain aspects of his career. But, to just retire completely from music would not be possible for him. Even if he did "retire", and he took on another cause, say his own 'veggie food-line' (like Linda), or started his own 'save-the-animals organization', he would EVENTUALLY be back at making music again. Another new recording to help keep his musical elbows greased and to quell his fans' outcries for more. Well, then again, fans. Just, listen to all that he's done so far, it'd be enough.
The Beatles (like Paul McCartney) were not on itunes. But now, I saw on a commercial, their music will be on there soon. So, their music should appear soon!! Hope that helps!!

paul mcCartney
To the best of my knowledge, he is alive and well. The rumor of his death died a long time ago as rumors do when they are untrue as most rumors are. Paul McCartney continues to perform at shows and shows no sign of abating and, to the best of my knowledge, has not indicated any wish to retire any time soon.
