With pearl, you get what you pay for. The only type of pearl kit I would consider would be the Masterworks kit, medium thickness shells. In my opinion, the more expensive pearl kits are the same quality and sound as a less expensive DW kits such as Pacific. The Pacific line are beautiful drums and they sound amazing.

Yamaha, Pearl or Ludwig sell good drum sets but a good drum set can cost over $1000.

DW is actuallt one of the best drum sets areound. if you buy them, then its a really good investment
