It sure is. Latest studies have shown in the last 10 years that prescription drug addiction has doubled. Percocet can mislead the user, because it isn't as strog as Oxycontin, but the truth is that its just as addictive and dangerous.

These drugs are prescribed for short term pain relief, and as a schedule II painkiller, the DEA has recognized this drug as a potential habit forming drug. It has a higher (to a certain extent) degree of dependency than even Hydrocodone(Vicodin) has. So to sum up what I said, your question is its own answer. Very addictive. Should be used as directed, and only for short term severe pain management, Percocet contains acetaminophen(Tylenol) as well and that can damage the liver at sustained higher doses, even short term doses over time can accumulate and really damage your liver.
Pain is subjective, thus some will need this medication, yet others won't.
If you do take this medicine, do not inject it, nor crush it and sniff it.
