yes/and no because nintendo3ds is mainly becaude of styling the originol ds

But the dsi xl is for the Pokemon Black and White .Because pokemon black and has now 3 on 3 battles you will deffinetly need the xl but of course the Nintendo 3DS is practiclly the same
