Poodle skin can be sensitive yes but this doesn't always apply to every poodle. Poodles are prone to eczema and dermatitis, especially the lighter coloured variations. But this being said I have two dark poodles and they both have eczema.
As your not certain if your poodle has sensitive skin I would recommend that you purchase shampoo especially for puppies with sensitive skin and sensitive conditioning lotion to keep the coat fluffy and thick. This should hopefully prevent any reactions. If your not sure what to do, make a appointment at your nearest groomers and have your dog clipped in a easy to brush style such as puppy cut. Remember to check your poodles ears frequently for redness discharge and signs of infection which will all need to be treated by your Vet. Also pluck any hair that's blocking the ear canal to prevent infection.
