Is President Barack Obama going to have the same healthcare as everyone else on the 2010 healthcare reform bill?
He's the damn President?! He gets whatever he wants, he's leading the entire nation!
He probably doesn't even have health insurance, He has men in black suits surrounding him to make sure he doesn't even trip, and probably a doctor at the white house on staff!
The concept of healthcare reform is the idea of making access to affordable healthcare universal. From President Obama's speech: It will provide more security and stability to those who have health insurance. It will provide insurance to those who don't. And it will lower the cost of health care for our families, our businesses, and our government.
Some people would say the most famous thing is that Barack Obama is the first African-American to serve as president. Others would point to some of his policies-- for example, he was able to pass healthcare reform, end the War in Iraq, and he supervised the mission that resulted in the killing of Osama Bin Laden.
Healthcare reform is one of them. He has provided more funding for green recycling and green living than any president has ever done. While I am uncertain as to the green items, his health care is great as to the fact congress does not have to purchase any. And (strangely) since he has been in office, out national debt has increased dramatically. This was all Bush's fault of course ^^
Obamacare is not healthcare reform at all. It does not address healthcare costs nor the way in which payments are made for medical services. It does not restrict the costs of malpractice litigation. It does not reduce the incentive to order needless tests. The other problem is the cost of administering and enforcing the complicated provisions of the mandatory insurance programs.
Land reform and debt reform were two of the proposals that Julius Caesar was going to enforce. He as was assassinated before he could bring these changes about with a fairness for everyone. The president can influence legislation by "Going Public." His greatest power is persuasion. When the president goes public he sways the public on his issues, congress becomes pressured to seriously consider legislation and will not want to offend voters by voting against them. Example: Barack Obama on Health-care Reform.
Since President Obama is still serving, it is difficult to evaluate major achievements, as he may have others before he ends his second term. But so far, his supporters would say among his achievements are that he ended our involvement with the war in Iraq, led the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden, championed the passage of healthcare reform (giving greater access to millions of Americans), and championed equal pay for women in the workplace.
Healthcare in Germany is still a semi-market based system without any kind of direct government buying/selling/funding of healthcare. A great article describing the kind of healthcare used in Germany can be found here - http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/17/health-reform-without-a-public-plan-the-german-model/
