How come there is never any sightings of Prince Philip?

He"s an elder statesman type and hangs around the palace mainly. He does get some publicity with the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, which I believe is the same or related to the Outward Bound adventure camps- or something similar.

Are there any awards equivalent to the duke of Edinburgh award?

Not really, but if you do scouts and explorers then you can have more fun! They do the same stuff just more activities and less walking!

What is the female equivalent of Duke?

A female Duke can be a Duke or Duchess. The wife of a Duke is a Duchess Duke is unique amongst the British titles in that if a woman holds the title in her own right the title may be the same as the male (unlike, say, Baron, where a woman given the same title is always a Baroness). So while Kate Middleton is the Duchess of Cambridge (because she is married to the Duke - William), the Queen is the Duke of Lancaster (because she holds the title, not Philip). The Queen is also a Duchess as a result of being married to a Duke.

What is the pecking order of a Knight to a Duke?

King, Prince, Duke, Marquess, Earl, Viscount, Baron. In Britain it is this: king/queen; duke, marquess, earl, viscount, baron. Princes/princesses don't actually have standing as peers but hold their rank through courtesy which is why sons of the sovereign are made dukes at some point (or earl in the case of poor Edward). Barons and Baronesses are called Lord and Lady because Baron is a French word. In France the equivalents are king; duc, marquis, comte, viscomte, baron. Sons of Ducs are also princes. In Germany they are: emperor, king, grand duke, sovereign prince, duke, prince, margrave, count, baron (freiherr in German). A sovereign prince runs his own country (principality, like Liechtenstein), a regular prince is a son of an emperor, king, grand duke, duke, or sovereign prince. In Spain and Italy its the same with a different language.

Is prince Harry oldest?

Prince William. Not true! The Duchess of Cambridge was born on 9th January, 1982, and the Duke on 21st June of the same year, which means Catherine is the elder by five months.

What happens if Prince William has a daughter?

The same thing that happened to Elizabeth- she'll be in line to be Queen. She'll knock Harry from being 3rd in line to the throne. And then when she marries, her husband will take a title such as Duke of Edinburgh (a guy who marries into the family can't take a higher title than his wife, who is of royal blood. Therefore, he couldn't be King.).

What is the Surname of Prince Harry and Prince William?

The surname of the current royal is Mountbatten-Windsor (hence, the Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, is the granddaughter of the Queen and daughter of her youngest son, Prince Edward). In 1960, just before the birth of Prince Andrew that same year, the Queen drafted up an order saying that her children, grandchildren, and other descendants will carry on this surname. It is a hybrid of Mountbatten (Duke of Edinburgh's surname) as well as the Queen's surname (Windsor). Technically, officially the royals use whatever title they have as a surname (I.e. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie use York as their father Prince Andrew is the Duke of York and Princes William and Harry use Wales as their father is the Prince of Wales and as such has this has this as a title---AKA William Wales, Henry Wales which is what they use in the military that they are currently serving in respectively).

Where was Prince Edward at Williams's wedding?

The Duke of Wessex - aka Price Edward was on the same row as the Duke of York (Prince Andrew) and the Princess Royal (Princess Anne) and their spouses - although the Duke of York's ex-wife was not there but his daughters were.. Prince Edward's daughter - Lady Louise - was one of the bridesmaids.

Why did Victoria bestow the title The Prince Consort on Albert?

Because, since he was not born of royalty - he could not inherit the title of King. The same reason applies to Prince Philip - Her Majesty Queen's Elizabeth II's husband.
