You may want to read the books yourself before deciding. It's really up to your judgment as a parent... Every parent has a different opinion on what their child should read, and I don't want to tell you what to think. :)
Bear in mind that, during the later books especially, there are adult references and "making out" scenes. The eighth book sees Mia deliberating over whether to stay over with her boyfriend, and the second is about her mother getting pregnant by Mia's algebra teacher...
If it was my daughter, I would wait a couple of years. Or maybe let her read them- it may just go over her head anyway.
I agree with the first comment. Especially if you are going to read book 10. I would wait until they were 12. But feel free to make your own decision.
