Actually it was Venus, since this is a Roman story. ---- Aphrodite/Venus was jealous of the worship that villagers were paying to Psyche instead of her. This exceeded mere admiration of Psyche's beauty: Venus' temples and altars were being deserted in favor of the offerings being brought to an upstart mortal princess.

(She was so beautiful) So, she already had a reason to be angry with her, then Eros goes and falls in love with Psyche. I guess you could also say that Psyche's sisters are her enemies, because they are the ones who convince her that her husband could be a monster. This is what prompted Psyche to lose her faith in her husband, and Eros was angry and flew off. But don't worry, because they got back together again.
