Catholic AnswerSt. Ava, a daughter of King Pepin of the Franks, was a Benedictine Abbess in the ninth century. Not much is know of St. Ava. She was cured of blindness by a saint, she entered a Benedictine convent of which she later became Abbess. She was acclaimed a saint before the process of canonization came about, so she would have been proclaimed a saint at her death by the people who knew of her holiness. Because she followed in Jesus' footsteps.
