Sony Vegas (and other video editing software effects/transitions) are not compatible/interchangeable with Windows Movie Maker.The only way to use effects produced on Sony Vegas (or other software application) is by importing the finalized/exported clips which already include the effects on them.

The Sony Vegas HD Platinum 9 is only available for the Windows operating system. If the Mac is not running Windows then Apple's Final Cut Express or Adobe's Premiere Elements (See links below) may be suitable alternatives.

Well, there's Sony Vegas, it's higher quality than Windows Movie Maker, but Sony Vegas comes with a trial and after the trial you have to pay. But for Windows Movie Maker, the quality sucks. but it's free.

I use windows movie maker, but some people use Sony Vegas. Movie maker is free but Sony Vegas is about 500 bucks
