I've had the same Toshiba laptop for 8 YEARS! No problems at all. Running Windows XP. I added RAM and a bigger HDD, and replaced the battery once, but that's it. I think they are the best on the market for the price.

Nothing wrong with the answer below, but I have a Toshiba laptop and have had no problems with it and i have had it for about 4 yrs now. I run a computer repair shop and i barely see any Toshiba's in my shop. So with my experience with them,they seem to be pretty stable so far.

it depends what type of reason your using it for, but if you want a good reliable laptop you should look at hewwlet-packard(hp). if you buy Toshiba it might last 2-3 years, but be sure to get the extended warranty.
