UV light is a natural part of sunlight, so people are able to tollerate a certain amount of it, as illustrated by the sun tan that light-skinned people may develope.

However, excessive exposure to UV can result in sun burn, with its attendant skin blistering and pain, and frequent sun burns may age the skin at an accelerated rate.

People exposed to UV for extended periods are more likely to develope skin cancer. Excessive exposure to the eye, often through artificial UV sources, can also result in cataracts.
