a merger is when two companies merge together, as is an acquisition. an IPO is when a private company goes public, such as Facebook. Your question doesn't make much sense...
The messenger on the Facebook application is much more secure from hackers.
Sadly - WikiAnswers now FORCES new users onto Facebook, in a misguided attempt to at verifying the ages of users. Facebook (claims) it has a minimum age limit of 13 for its users. HOWEVER - they have absolutely NO way to verify users ages any more than WikiAnswers does ! As I have said a number of times - FORCING new users onto (as you quite rightly said) such a dangerous site as Facebook, detracts from the friendliness of WikiAnswers ! If Answers starts telling existing users to create Facebook accounts - I WILL LEAVE ! I have no desire to be forces to create a Facebook account just to carry on using this site ! As for the privacy issue - there is no privacy on WikiAnswers. ANYONE can see anyone's contributions, profile etc. If you want to talk privately - I suggest you use MSN messenger. At least that way, you only get to see conversations from those your buddy list (and they only see yours).
WikiAnswers, actually, is more popular. Recently, WikiAnswers has surpassed Yahoo! in visitors (WikiAnswers was already superior quality wise).View the related link below, and view the second graph in the related link to see why WikiAnswers is more popular.

Theoretically, WikiAnswers can hold as much data as you can give it. If WikiAnswers starts running out of space they can expand their data centers so that they can hold more questions and answers. That's what the whole site is about after all.
No, supervisors on WikiAnswers do not take shifts. We come online whenever we have the time and for as much time as we can spare. Follow the related link for more information on WikiAnswers supervisors.
Theoretically - the youngest person will be 13... because you need to be at least 13 to register for a Facebook account. HOWEVER - since there is no way to verify a person's age on Facebook - the youngest person here could be much younger !
