buspar is buspirone. It is a class b pregnancy drug, which means it has been proven safe to take during pregnancy. Xanax is alprazolam, which is a benzodiazopine. It is a class d pregnancy drug, which has been proven to cause birth defects. My ob switched me from xanax to buspar during my pregnancy. Buspar is also less addictive.
