The county is potentially very rich:
Mineral - Gold, Diamonds, coal
Agriculture - Fertile land
Education - Has had a high standard
But the country is now poor:
Currency has collapsed in value
Extremely high inflation
Cash shortages
80% unemployment
Electricity power cuts
Mass Emigration
Hospital -shortages of medicines
Land redistribution has been followed by collapse of agricultural production
Lack of foreign currency and power cuts has led to closure of many gold mines and factories
Water supply problems have led to Cholera outbreaks
Political instability
Lack of foreign investment
this is not fair because the president is not thinking straight
Its very complicated to answer to your question, Botswana is a country with a lot of richness, but with a very low investiment in people.
The population is also living in bad conditions, with the native culture in many parts of the country, and you can see the ''prosperity'' and the modernization in Gaborone and in a few urban centres. The infraestructure is very poor oustside the capital and some cities.
Theres is a lot of difference between the little but modern and rich Botswana the tribal poor Africa. You can hear that Botswana hava a high per-capita income, but this is very relative because richness is in a few white families and a little midlle-high class.
