It matters on the parent's judgement and the child. The movie came out when I was 11 and I didn't scare me at all. It is rated PG-13 for a reason though. It is about as dark/scary as the Goblet of Fire.
Yes it is. Harry Potter movies are not scary and it help kids imagination's grow.Trust me after the first movie they will find a stick and pretend to cast spells!
It depends which movie you watch.
For the first three no, for the second four yes
Yes! The Harry Potter books are wonderful for pre-teens ages 10 and up, but may be a little dark for younger ages. J.K. Rowling does an amazing job when writing the Harry Potter books. There are 7 Harry Potter Books in the series: Year One: Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone (or the Socerer's Stone) Year Two: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Year Three: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Year Four: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Year Five: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phonix Year Six: Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince Year Seven: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows All of the books are good, and so are the Harry Potter movies! But remember, always read the book first because the movies don't go into much detail as the books do!
Christian Coulson played young Tom Marvolo Riddle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

All Harry Potter's should be OK for ages 10+. Some children ar more sensitive and may be disturbed at the 5th 6th 7th or 8th movies, depends on the kid, I was 1 when I started watching them and I was fine with them.
There are currently 5 movies out on DVD. The sixth book's movie enters theaters next year, so I suspect the DVD will come out that same year, or the next.
There will be eight total.Years one through six each have a movie and year seven is split into two parts.
