Atreyu (Atréju in German) is a secondary protagonist to the story, being the protagonist of the mysterious book that Bastian reads. To the audience, he is a metafictional character, existing fictionally and within the reality of the book itself. He is a young Greenskin warrior from the Grassy Plains (in German it is named The Grassy Sea). His parents were killed by a purple buffalo soon after he was born, so his entire village raised him, thus his name means "son of all" in his native language. He is summoned by the Childlike Empress to embark on a "Great Quest" to save the land of Fantastia by finding a cure for her illness. He is given the Auryn, an amulet that makes whoever wears it the Childlike Empress' herald, and he sets out on his mission with his horse, Artax. During the long events of the quest to find a cure, his travels lead him across all corners of Fantastia. He meets many creatures, including Falkor the luckdragon, who helps him on his quest by carrying him on his back. Bastian, all the while reading Atreyu's story in the real world, experiences everything Atreyu does and begins to sympathize with him. In the end this proves to have been Fantastia's solution and the Empress' cure, bringing Bastian to Fantastia to give the Empress a new name. Atreyu features largely in the second half of the novel, as Bastian travels Fantastia far and wide as its savior. They quickly become friends, but as Bastian continues to use Auryn, he begins to change, a fact which does not go unnoticed by Atreyu and Falkor. Both first offer to wear the Auryn on Bastian's behalf; when Bastian refuses and even casts them out for their alleged treason, Atreyu leads a rebellion against Bastian on the latter's coronation day as the Childlike Emperor. He is heavily wounded by Bastian during the battle, but manages to recover. When Bastian has lost even his last memory (his true name), Atreyu and Falkor help him and offer favorable testimony to the powers in Auryn, who then decide to let Bastian return to the human world. With their friendship restored, Atreyu takes up the task to finish the stories Bastian has begun in his sojourn in Fantastica. In the 1984 film version, the character of Atreyu is played by Noah Hathaway. His skin is not olive green as described in the book, though it was attempted to do this through makeup, it never made it to the final production[1]. As such, his people were called the 'Plains People' instead of Greenskins. The character also makes a return appearance in The Neverending Story II: The Next Chapter, played by Kenny Morrison. In the 2001 Hallmark mini-series, Tales from the Neverending Story, he is portrayed by Tyler Hynes and the character's people are referred to as the Woodland People. He is shown to have a romantic relationship with a young aviatrix called "Fly Girl", and to be something of a village innocent. * The American metalcore band, Atreyu, took its name from this character from The Neverending Story. * Contrary to popular belief, Noah Hathaway did not reprise the role of Atreyu via voice acting in the short-lived Neverending Story animated series. The voice of Atreyu in the animated series was provided by Dominic Zamprogna. * Atreyu appears in the Robot Chicken episode "Dragon Nuts" voiced by Seth Green. When he and Falkor are bored, they throw a "Neverending Party" and get chips and liquor for it. * Atreyu is mentioned in the song "Shakin'", by Rooney. * Atreyu is also mentioned in the song "Jugular Vein", by Mr. Lif. * Atreyu and his horse Artax are both mentioned in the song "The Rhythm Method (Move!), by Flobots. * Atreyu is mentioned in the title of Cecil Otter's song "Atreyu vs. Swamps of Sadness." Bastian Balthazar Bux is the main protagonist of the story. Bastian is a shy, fat and bookish boy who is neglected by his father, who is still mourning the death of his wife (she died of a fatal, though unspecified illness). During a visit to an antique bookstore, he steals a curious-looking book titled The Neverending Story, and upon reading it he finds himself literally drawn into the story. Halfway through the book, Bastian becomes a character in The Neverending Story, in a world called Fantastica ("Fantasia" in the movies, which is closer to the German original "Phantásien"). He is bestowed the magical amulet Auryn, which allows his wishes to be granted. As the story progresses, Bastian slowly loses his memories of the real world as his wishes carry him throughout Fantastica and change him into a wholly different person. Deluded by the witch Xayide, moves to the Ivory Tower and tries to have himself proclaimed Emperor. The ceremony is interrupted by Atreyu, who is nearly killed by Bastian. Eventually, Bastian realizes that he is beginning to lose himself, and starts a desperate last-ditch quest for his one true desire. In the end he forgets even his name, but with the help of Falkor and Atreyu, who promise to finish the stories he started, he manages to return to the human world with the capability of loving, which was his deepest (and thereto unknown) desire, and bringing to his father the Water of Life, curing him of his melancholy. Bastian and Coreander exchange tales of their adventures in Fantastica, and Coreander reveals that a person can return to Fantastica as many times as they can think of new names for the Childlike Empress, and predicts Bastian will show others the way to Fantastica. He has been portrayed by five different actors: * 1984: Barret Oliver in The Neverending Story. * 1990: Jonathan Brandis in The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter. * 1994: Jason James Richter in The Neverending Story III. * 1996: Christopher Bell provided the voice of the character in The Neverending Story animated series. * 2001: Mark Rendall in Tales from the Neverending Story Carl Conrad Coreander (Karl Konrad Koriander in German) is a seemingly grumpy shopkeeper who meets Bastian early on in the narrative. The name of his bookstore makes for the first words in the novel, the heading of the prologue being "skooB dlO srednaeroC darnoC lraC", the store name when viewed through the window from the inside outwards. Bastian finds The Neverending Story in his store, a book Coreander was in the middle of reading. While distracted with a telephone call, Bastian steals it and takes it to school with him. In the end, the novel makes it clear that Mr. Coreander is one of the few humans who has been to Fantastia and returned. He and Bastian come to a better understanding and share telling the stories of their adventures to one another. Both he and Bastian share the oddity of triple letter initials, an insight into their mutual connection to Fantastia. Coreander is portrayed by Thomas Hill in the first movie, and was the only actor who reprised his role in the second movie. In the television series, Tales from the Neverending Story, he is a more kindly figure who functions in a double role as a wizard in Fantastia, where he is called "the Curiosity". The Childlike Empress (Die Kindliche Kaiserin in German) is the monarch of Fantastica, who resides in the Ivory Tower palace in the heart of the realm. Although she is nominally the ruler of Fantastica, she does not command a political system nor does she enforce her authority, and in fact rarely interacts with the outside world. In actuality, she is the living embodiment of Fantastica's life force; should she die, Fantastica and all Fantasticans would cease to exist. The amulet known as 'AURYN' is her emblem, and those who wear it are her messengers and representatives. As explained by Morla the Aged One, her lifetime is not measured in years or in time ("she's much older than the oldest inhabitants of Fantastica [...] or rather, she's ageless"), but by names. She continuously needs new names, which only the imagination of a human child can give to her. When she begins to need a new name, she begins to fade away, causing the Nothing to appear in Fantastica. She sends Atreyu on the Great Quest, which brings Bastian Balthazar Bux to Fantastica, and Bastian gives her the name of Moon Child, which restores Fantastica and begins the second half of the novel. Her description is that of an indescribably beautiful young girl, appearing no older than ten, yet known to be much older than the oldest Fantasticans. Her hair is snow-white, as is her gown, and her eyes are the color of gold, earning her the official title Golden-Eyed Commander of Wishes (Goldäugige Gebieterin der Wünsche in German). The role was portrayed by Tami Stronach in Wolfgang Petersen's 1984 adaptation, by Alexandra Johnes in The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter (1990) and by Julie Cox in The NeverEnding Story III (1994). In the movies, her hair is dark, rather than white, and in the first movie, she is dressed like a bride. Engywook and his wife Urgl are a quarrelling pair of gnomes who lives close to the location of the Southern Oracle. Engywook is a research scientist who has studied the Southern Oracle and her three gates for most of his life, hoping to publish a book containing his research. However, he has never been to the Southern Oracle himself. Engywook is portrayed as a rather excitable and slightly proud old man. His wife Urgl often gets in his way while brewing potions in a large cauldron, most are for healing wounded people. The two often argue, Engywook referring to Urgl as "wench". Engywook can observe the Riddle Gate, also known as the Sphinxes, from his telescope on a hilltop overlooking the first gate. In the book, Engywook and Urgl help heal Atreyu and Falkor after they escaped from Ygramul. Urgl removes poision from Atreyu and Engywook instructs him about the three gates that lead to the Southern Oracle. This scene is portrayed in the 1984 film, Engywook played by Sydney Bromley, and Urgl played by Patricia Hayes. In the third film of the series, Engywook and Urgl have moved to a forest and still argue continuously. The house is stepped on by Bastian during his return trip to Fantastica, although it is then completely destroyed by the powers of the Nasties effects on the land. The two go with Bastian, Falkor and Bark Troll to find the Empress for help, but they end up travelling to Earth due to a wish overload caused by Bastian and the others. They end up in Alaska where they mail themselves to the others and return home, their house rebuilt. Falkor (Fuchur in German) is a luckdragon, and a friend of Atreyu. He is the only luckdragon to appear, although five others are mentioned in passing. He helps Atreyu in his quest to find a cure for the Empress after escaping the web of Ygramul the Many. Falkor has an elongated, wingless body with rudimentary paws and many white scales and hairs on the length of his body that appear pink in dull light. The form of his head is described less precisely, though his eyes are mentioned as being the colour of rubies. In the color illustrations of the original German version he appears much like an Oriental dragon. A cover for the book by Dan Craig illustrated Falkor as lion-like, while in the 1984 film adaptation of the novel, as well as its sequels, Falkor has distinctive canine features. Additionally, in both the first and second movies, Falkor asks to be scratched behind his ear, accenting his dog-like appearance, which led to confusion among those who have not read the book. Unlike most of their dragon kin, luckdragons possess neither an immense physical strength, nor great magical talents, though they can still breathe fire, which is blue, as shown when Falkor fights Ygramul. Their only distinctive ability that sets them apart is their incredible luck in everything they do, as shown at one point in the novel when Falkor manages to locate and rescue his companion despite being lost in a violent, blinding storm and having absolutely no idea where to look for him. A luckdragon's typical answer to how it is going to accomplish a nearly impossible feat is always "With luck!" Despite such carelessness, it seems their luck truly never fails and is a valuable asset for their companions. Another special trait of luckdragons is the ability to fly despite the fact that they have no wings. It is explained in the book that luckdragons are beings made from fire and air. When in flight a Luck Dragon is in constant motion and literally swims through the air. Luckdragons never stop taking in air and heat through their scales, which makes eating unnecessary and makes water deadly to them if they are immersed in it for more than a few minutes. Luckdragons are capable of sleeping while flying, and prefer to have as much open space as possible rather than be cooped up in a building, regardless of how spacious it may be. In the first film, Falkor is voiced by Alan Oppenheimer, who also voiced Mighty Mouse and Skeletor. Bavaria Film Studios in Munich has a "life-size" reproduction of Falkor which tourists can climb on and ride. * Falkor makes a brief appearance in an episode of Family Guycalled "Breaking Out Is Hard to Do". He is being ridden by Peter Griffin in the role of Bastian. Peter appears to weigh substantially more than Atreyu or Bastian in either the book or film versions of The Neverending Story, causing Falkor to crash into the ground. * Falkor also appears in a short scene in the Robot Chicken episode "Dragon Nuts" voiced by Abraham Benhttp. * He also appears during the end credits of the PC game Jets'n'Guns. * The dragon serves as a mode of transportation for Yakko, Wakko and Dot during the fantasy level of the Animaniacs video game. * Falkor is seen in Dean Venture's dreamland in an episode of The Venture Bros. * Falkor is seen in Code Monkeys episode 7 "Larrity's Got Back", being ridden by Mr. Larrity's son Dean. * Falkor is seen in Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!! "5 Rangers" * Falkor is seen in the 7th episode of Rim Today: Season 7 being ridden by actor Miguel Campos after a swift rescue. * Falkor also appears in the background in the South Park episode "Imaginationland," when the boys first arrive and can be seen in the skies carrying a machine gun in the final battle against the forces of evil. Gmork, a werewolf, is one of the villains, a servant to the power behind the Nothing. His physical appearance is that of a large, wolf-like creature with night-black fur capable of human speech. The film shows him as having short, dark, blue-black fur and luminous green eyes, as well as more fangs than an ordinary wolf would have. Gmork's primary mission in the Neverending Story is to track down and kill the young warrior Atreyu. He, and other dual-natured creatures like him, do not possess a world of their own like Fantasticans and humans do. Instead, he is able to travel between worlds, changing into a Fantastican or a human depending upon the world, but in appearance only. His knowledge of Fantastica interested the Manipulators, which is why they gave him his mission. However, he never manages to catch up with Atreyu, because the latter uses the magical powers of the monster Ygramul's poisonous bite to wish himself to the Southern Oracle. Atreyu finally meets Gmork in Spook City, where he is chained, and Atreyu employs the name 'Nobody' to hide his identity. Gmork confesses that he has been hunting a boy sent on a quest by the Childlike Empress to find her a new name, but lost him early on. He then met the Princess of Darkness, Gaya, who upon hearing of his mission to help the Nothing, chained Gmork with an unbreakable magical chain and leapt into the Nothing. Gmork explains to Atreyu the nature of the Nothing, and that if a Fantastican enters it, they become a 'lie' in the human world. Eventually, Gmork reveals the name of the boy he is pursuing, and Atreyu reveals his identity, which causes Gmork to laugh cacophonously until he dies, satisfied by seeing the futility of Atreyu's quest. In the movie, Gmork almost manages to kill Atreyu in the Swamps of Sadness, but Atreyu is saved just in time by Falkor the luckdragon. Their meeting in Spook City occurs in the movie as well; Gmork, however, is not depicted as tied, and does not name "Manipulators" as the power behind the Nothing. He attacks Atreyu, impaling himself on an improvised stone knife held by the young warrior. In the book, Gmork's evil lives on after his death. As Atreyu approaches the dead wolf, the carcass lashes out and grabs Atreyu in its jaws. Being held by Gmork, however, prevents Atreyu from being able to give in to the overpowering urge exerted by the Nothing to throw himself into it. He is freed from Gmork's grip by Falkor, who escapes with him to the Ivory Tower. Graograman, the Many Colored Death, is the guardian and lord over Goab, the Desert of Colors, which exists in a symbiosis with Perilin, the Night Forest. He appears in the form of a huge lion, who changes colors much like a chameleon based on the color of sand he is treading on. He is said to "bring the desert with him", turning all life around him into sand, thus his nickname. Graograman turns into an obsidian statue at night in order to allow the growth of Perilin. Graograman is the first creature Bastian meets upon his arrival in Fantastica (if the Childlike Empress is to be excluded); Bastian is protected from the effect of Graograman's death aura by the Auryn, and is thus the first living being ever to make friends with him. Graograman is the first one who teaches Bastian something of the nature of Fantastica, and he gives Bastian his magic (and seemingly intelligent) sword, Sikanda. One night, Bastian is called away; he promises to return, but is ultimately unable to keep his promise (the story suggests, however, that one day someone would fulfill the promise in Bastian's name). Morla, the Ancient One, is a giant turtle who because of her size is mistaken for a mountain. She lives amidst the Swamps of Sadness, which might either be the cause or the result of her melancholy mindset: as the oldest living Fantastican (after the Childlike Empress and the Old Man of Wandering Mountain who are both ageless) she has grown to be totally indifferent to the fate of Fantastica and her own survival. Reluctantly, she eventually informs Atreyu that the Empress needs to be given a new name and that no Fantastican can do that. Unknowing who can provide a new name, she points Atreyu to the Southern Oracle. The Old Man of Wandering Mountain is an elderly bearded chronicler who has existed since the beginning of Fantastica and has never been young. His chronicle contains all events in Fantastica as he writes everything down as it happens, and everything happens as he writes it down. He lives alone in an egg-shaped home on top of the Wandering Mountain, which can be found only by chance or fate. The Old Man appears in the story when the Childlike Empress is forced to use drastic measures to make Bastian fulfill his part in the story. As she approaches his mountain, the Old Man tries to dissuade her from entering, as Fantastica's origin cannot meet up with its end. On her request, the Old Man begins reading from his chronicle (starting with Bastian entering the book shop). As he reads, all events happen again and as they happen again he writes them down again, beginning a vicious circle of eternal repetition which finally drives Bastian into calling out the Empress' new name. The Old Man does not appear in the first film, and his appearance in the third film differs drastically from the book. He possesses the Great Book, which can seemingly write the future on its own accord. He dwells in a hidden crystal cave where he can see outside events using a "magic mirror". He is visited by the Childlike Empress and her guard Big Head, who remain with him until the end of the Nastie crisis. In this film, he grovels before the Empress and sees it as an honor that the monarch would visit him. The beginning of the novel as well as the film introduces a travelling party consisting of messengers: Gluckuk (Ückück in German), a tiny man riding a racing snail (in the film he is called Teeny Weeny and portrayed by Deep Roy) and Vooshvazool, a Nighthob (Nachtalb) by the name of Whooshwoozool who rides on a bat, Pyornkrachzark (Pjörnkrachzark), a Rockbiter riding a stone vehicle, and Blubb, a will-o'-the-wisp. All four are sent their respective people to the Ivory Tower to ask the Childlike Empress for help against the Nothing's destructive forces. In the film, Blubb isn't featured and his actions are given to the Rockbiter. Among the messengers, Pyornkrachzark, more commonly known as "Rockbiter" (in German Felsenbeisser) is the most famous. He is a large creature made completely of stone. The Rockbiter species are named due to their diet consisting of only rocks and earth-based materials. The Rockbiter seen in the movie particularly has a liking for limestone. In the novel, the Rockbiter only appears early in the novel. In the film, he reappears towards the end when he is encountered by Atreyu. He has lost faith in himself after failing to save his travelling companions from the Nothing, who were sucked right out of his hands. He advises Atreyu to flee before the Nothing takes him too and remains to be taken himself. In the second and third films, Rockbiter's family is introduced. His wife appears in the third film and his son appears in the second and third films. Rockbiter Junior is the same size as a regular human and is only a toddler, being rather clueless about the world and is rather gluttonous and playful. Junior has a main role in the third film where he is sent to Earth during a wish overload caused by Bastian, Falkor, Bark Troll, Engywook and Urgl. He is saved from falling to his death by Falkor and they are reunited with Bastian. Junior doesn't make life easy for Bastian, causing mayhem in his kitchen at night and playing a watercan like a trumpet. Rockbiter and his wife begin fighting and eventually nearly split due to the absence of their son and the further effects of the Nasties, who are in possession of the book and the Auryn. The family are reunited at the end of the film. Rockbiter also sings a rather bad version of Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf. The Southern Oracle, also named Uyulala, is a mysterious and all-knowing oracle guarded by three magical gates. Many creatures in Fantastica try to visit the oracle for wisdom, but few succeed in getting through all three gates and as such it is a great mystery who or what Uyulala is. She is in fact an incorporeal entity; depicted as a disembodied, continuous female voice who speaks in - and can only understand - rhymed speech and otherwise sings ceaselessly to maintain her existence. The ancient, giant turtle Morla tells Atreyu that Uyulala is the only one who knows who can give the Childlike Empress a new name and prevent her from dying. But the Southern Oracle is so far away that on foot Atreyu would be an old man by the time he reached it. It is only with the help of Ygramul's poison that is Atreyu able to transport himself near the oracle instantly. There he learns from the gnome Engywook, a scholar who wishes to uncover the secrets of the Southern Oracle, that in order to speak with Uyulala he must pass through the three gates: * The first gate is the Great Riddle Gate, which consists of two Sphinxes who face one another. In Greek mythology the Sphinx presents riddles and punishes those who cannot guess them. Fantastican Sphinxes are blind: their eyes do not take in light, rather they send forth all the riddles in the world. Those caught between their gaze are frozen on the spot and doomed to remain until they solve every riddle, or until the more likely outcome that they die. There is a random chance the Sphinxes will close their eyes and allow a person to pass, however. * The second gate is the Magic Mirror Gate, which is a large, circular, moon-like mirror. Rather than reflect physical appearances, the mirror reflects the absolute truest nature of the observer. This often frightens people into running away or drives them mad with hysteria. To pass the gate, a person must work up the courage to pass through the image. * The third gate is the No-Key Gate, which is a keyless door made of a strange metal called Fantastican selenium that is physically indestructible, but reacts to a person's will. Only by forgetting everything and losing the desire to enter may one do so. When Atreyu passes through the three doors, he discovers that Uyulala is a disembodied, singing voice who can only understand rhymes. In a poetic conversation, Atreyu learns the reason why the Childlike Empress is ill, and what he must find in order to restore her health. Uyulala is then quiet and the Southern Oracle with its three gates is silently destroyed by the Nothing. The movie version of the Southern Oracle shares the generalities. The first gate judges whether the person attempting to pass through it "feels his own worth"; if the person is doubtful of their ability to pass through safely, the two Sphinxes fire laser beams from their eyes to incinerate the visitor. The second gate is a mirror much like the book's description, located in a snowy wilderness. There is no third gate. The Oracle itself is two blue glowing Sphinxes facing one another, exactly like the yellow glowing sphinxes at the first gate. It speaks in prose. As with the book, the Oracle crumbles and dies after revealing the cure for the Childlike Empress' condition. In Tales from the Neverending Story, a hero must pass through the Riddle Gate, which tests his confidence in himself. He must then answer a riddle and pass through a mirror that displays the necessary thing he needs. In the case of Atreyu, he lands in a library owned by the wizard nicknamed "the Curiosity", who teaches him to read. Thereafter he passes through a glass door on which the name Uyulala is inscribed, to find the Oracle much as she is described in the book. Xayide is an evil sorceress. She appears later in the book after Bastian enters the world of Fantastica. Xayide lives in a castle shaped like a hand, called Horok, the Seeing Hand, so called because its multitude of windows appear like human eyes. Xayide's most striking physical feature are her heterochromatic eyes. She has the ability to control anything empty, and thus she employs a number of guards which are effectively empty suits of iron plate armor. While at her core Xayide is cold and calculating, she presents to Bastian a warm and worshipping exterior, which fools him easily. Her vain wishes are to replace the Childlike Empress as ruler of Fantastica and bring sharp order to the realm of fantasy. Realizing she cannot defeat Bastian by force, she uses him in an attempt to rule by proxy, convincing him to invade the Ivory Tower with the power of his wishes to become Childlike Emperor. After losing Bastian, she is trampled underfoot and crushed to death by her iron minions who resist her waning magic. The book's chapters follow an alphabetical order pattern of the first word, thus her name serves well for the difficult "X" word in Chapter 24, where she meets her demise. Xayide is portrayed by actress and model Clarissa Burt in The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter, which is loosely based upon the second half of the novel with key differences. In the adaption, Xayide's ability to control hollow things, such as her guards, is taken to another level: control of an entity similar to the Nothing called 'the Emptiness' which plagues Fantastica and threatens the Empress. Xayide is depicted in the movie very much akin to the book's description, cunning enough to manipulate Bastian into delusion, planning to usurp the Childlike Empress and bring order to Fantastica. In both media she gives Bastian the belt Ghemmal, which turns its wearer invisible and was intended for the same purpose: to spy on Atreyu. She meets her end when Bastian uses his last wish for her to have a heart, causing her to no longer be empty. In the miniseries Tales from the Neverending Story, Xayide is portrayed as the Childlike Empress' sister and is the main antagonist of the story. Ygramul, the Many, is a monster that lives in the land of Dead Mountains. Ygramul is portrayed as a shapeshifter, who often takes form of a large spider and builds webs to catch its prey. The creature is actually comprised of many little insects who share a single hive mind. Ygramul's poison is deadly and kills within one hour, but grants the victim the ability to teleport to any location within the land of Fantastica before succumbing to its effects. In the book, this poison is the means by which Atreyu travels to the home of Engywook and Urgl, near the Southern Oracle. At this point in the story Falkor the luckdragon is introduced; he is caught in Ygramul's web, and also uses the power of Ygramul's poison to follow Atreyu. The lingering effects of the poison are nursed out of the two by Urgl, while Engywook, a scholar of the Southern Oracle, instructs Atreyu on the challenges he is to encounter within the Oracle's demesne. * Bastian's Father - Bastian's unnamed father, who is a dental technician by profession, is described to have grown distant from his son after the death of his wife, although this changes when he and Bastian are reunited at the end of the book. In the second film, Bastian's father finds the Neverending Story and follows Bastian's journey by reading the book and reunited with his son at the conclusion of the film. However, in the third film, he appears to have no memories of reading the book and is given the name of Barney. He marries a woman named Jane and thus gains a proper family, along with a daughter named Nicole who plays a main role in the third film. * Cairon - Herald of the Childlike Empress and in-between bearer of the AURYN, who passed it to Atreyu. In the book he appears as a black elderly centaur, his lower half with the striped pattern of a zebra. In the first film, he apppears as human. By his name, and being a centaur and physician, Cairon is an allusion to the mythological Greek Chiron. * Four Wind Giants - Four giants who guard the winds of Fantastica. They are shown to have a habit of fighting each other, which causes the separation of Atreyu and Falkor in the novel. * The Four Heroes - Four swordsman who appear in the second half of the novel. They are said to be the bravest and strongest warriors in all of Fantastica and participate in a tournament together in the Silver City of Amarganth. One is identified as Hero Hynreck, who is infatuated with Princess Oglamar; the other three, Hykrion, Hysbald and Hydorn, accompany Bastian on his journey and swear alleigance to him. They are often portrayed as cheerful beings but when Bastian decides to make himself an emperor, they get drunk and become rather useless in battle. They survive the battle against Atreyu's rebellion but lose track of Bastian and go their separate ways to look for him. * Yikka (Jicha in German) - A female mule who acts as Bastian's steed and mode of transport during the second half of the novel. She is quite faithful to him, but under Xayide's influence Bastian allows her to leave his side to start a family with an attractive male pegasus. * The Acharis (Acharai) - Worm-like creatures who are so ashamed by their own ugliness that they hide underground and constantly cry. Their acidic tears eat away the soil around them, allowing them to mine Fantastican silver (the only element which is impervious to their tears), which they use to construct beautiful buildings. Bastian pities them and transforms them into the Shlamoofs (Schlamuffen), but they become anarchist, clown-faced flying creatures who have no rules and destroy all of the work they did as Acharis. They pursue Bastian and demand that he becomes their leader, but they are driven off by Atreyu and Falkor. * Ilwan (Ylluan) - A blue genie with a bird's beak in place of his nose and mouth. He may have been the inspiration for the character Nimbly in the second film. Ilwan became one of Bastian's closest servants, but was killed during the battle for the Ivory Tower. * Querquobad, the Silver Sage - The ruler of the silver ship city of Amarganth, which was built by the Acharis and swims on a lake made by their tears. * Dame Eyola (Dame Ayola) - A living plant taking the form of a motherly woman who lives in the House of Change, who waited for Bastian to find her so she could take care of him and help him on his path to find his own, personal desire. * Yor - The picture miner of Yor's Minroud, a mine from which he escavates dream pictures (which make up the soil of Fantastica), who helps Bastian find his lost dream. * Bark Troll aka Barky - a talking tree-like creature who is a creation for the third film, making no actual appearance in the original book. He is loosely based on three characters that appeared briefly to advise Atreyu about the Nothing. In the third film he is rather grouchy but acts as comic relief. He befriends Bastian and joins him to fight the Nasties, but lands on Earth due to a wish overload in a conifer forest. He comes across a logging shipment and hitches a ride to Bastian's house, disguised as a log and a garden plant. He develops a difficult friendship with Rockbiter Junior in the process.

His hopes are rewarded when he discovers one last BabyZilla, trapped under some rubble and near death! Nick is able to free the BabyZilla, while avoiding its jaws and claws. Although physically unhurt, the BabyZilla is weak from starvation and will die if something isn't done.

Later, the butcher at a local fish market watches in astonishment as Nick buys every last piece from his display case!

Back in he devastated subway tunnel, Nick feeds the BabyZilla and begins a relationship of trust and mutual respect that will resonate throughout the rest of the film. VOICES suddenly echo from down the tunnel! A dozen flashlight beams sign an approaching squad of soldiers! Nick realizes the BabyZilla will be shot on sight if found by the soldiers. Using the remaining fish as bait, Nick lures the BabyZilla away. The pair manage to reach the surface without being detected. In the meantime, the BabyZilla has come to believe Nick is its mother (imprinting.) following him everywhere like a lovesick puppy. When another squad of soldiers approaches, Nick shrouds the BabyZilla in a long overcoat and shepherds it down to the waterfront. At one point a bum accosts the pair, unwittingly begging for spare change from the BabyZilla. The bum's bloodshot eyes bulge when his extended hand is snapped at by the BabyZilla! The bum's terrified screams bring the soldiers running! Realizing they're about to be discovered, Nick tries to get the BabyZilla to enter the water and strike off on its own. At first, it refuses to leave its 'mother'. Nick is forced to use 'tough love'. He pushes the baby away, screams in anger, even throws rocks at it. Heartbroken, the BabyZilla finally slips into the cold water and swims off into the murky depths with mixed emotions…

Two years later…

A series of strange and inexplicable events have begun occurring around the world. A cruise ship is found adrift off Australia with nary a soul on board. The entire population of a village on Fiji has literally vanished without a trace, the village itself destroyed. An Indonesian jumbo jet is sliced in half at thirty eight thousand feet. At the crash site, no bodies are found. A Global Task Force is formed to investigate, headed by none other than GENERAL HICKS.

A strange giant egg is discovered in a downtown park of a medium-sized town in New England. When word reaches Hicks of the discovery, he sends in a task force to investigate. The investigators reach the town only to discover it destroyed and its inhabitants vanished without a trace! In the center of town, remnants of the hatched eggs are found. The investigators conclude that somehow, some way, a Godzilla is responsible. The nightmare has begun again. General Hicks immediately puts out an APB on Godzilla expert Nick Tatopoulos.

Wedding bells chime outside a small church in Vermont. Nick and Audrey have finally tied the knot. We see that Nick is more or less resigned to his fate. The pair make their way to a waiting limo, showered by handfuls of rice. Nick climbs inside the limo. When Audrey turns to wave at the crowd at the crowd one last time, the door to the limo suddenly closes and all the doors lock, trapping Nick inside! The limo speeds away from the stunned crowd and Nick's equally stunned bride! (Note: this is the first and last we see of Audrey.) When Nick shouts for an explanation, the driver turns out to be the Frenchman PHILLIPE ROACHE! He apologizes for the abrupt departure, hands Nick a classified folder detailing the strange events occurring around the world. He reveals that he's working for General Hicks and the Global Task Force who are convinced that Godzilla is responsible. Nick insists that even if Godzilla had survived, it couldn't possibly be responsible for the weird events occurring around the world. There are too many inconsistencies. But Phillipe is determined to find out one way or another. And should a Godzilla prove to be alive - "It must be destroyed once and for all." Phillipe stops the car and turns to Nick. "I need your help." Nick finally agrees to help Phillipe in his search - but for very different reasons.

Restricting their search to the Southern Hemisphere because of climate, ocean currents and the relative proximity of the unexplainable events. Nick and Phillipe determine that the only land mass big enough to support a creature of Godzilla's size without fear of detection is Australia. That is where they target their search. Deep in the Australian Outback, Nick and Phillipe cross paths with a beautiful and rugged no-nonsense female biologist (ANNA CHARLTON) who claims to be doing research on Dingoes. She asks what they're doing in the middle of nowhere. Phillipe nods toward Nick: "He's on his honeymoon." Anna takes an immediate dislike to the pair, especially Nick. Her answers to their questions are curt and brusque. No, she's not seen nor heard anything strange or unusual. She asks them to leave and not disturb her research area. Before they d, Phillipe slips a tracking device into the back of her jeep. Both Nick and Phillipe are convinced she's hiding something.

Later, they trail her jeep further into the rugged Outback where they lose her when their own vehicle breaks down. Stranded in the middle of nowhere, arguing, they both suddenly hear a familiar bone chilling ROAR. Grabbing their gear, they race up a nearby bluff and come face to face with - GODZILLA, now full grown! Hiding in the bushes to avoid detection, Nick and Phillipe are even more stunned to discover Godzilla is not alone - the creature has given birth to a brood of young (TeenZillas!), each nearly three stories high! As Godzilla and its brood stomp into full view, a pack of Dingoes suddenly attack a straggler we will come to know as the RUNT of the litter. Smaller and weaker than the others, the Runt cries out for help as the Dingoes swarm! Godzilla ROARS! The rest of her young spook! While Godzilla defends the Runt from the hungry pack, Nick and Phillipe find themselves directly in the path of a Godzilla Stampede! Just when we think they're dead meat, a jeep pulls up and Anna scream for them to "GET IN!!" What follows is a hair-raising rollercoaster ride with Anna swerving in between the giant tree trunk legs of the stampeding TeenZillas, miraculously avoiding getting squashed, while Nick and Phillipe cling to their seats for dear life! Eventually, Anna is able to swerve out of harm's way just as Godzilla comes on the scene carrying the Runt on its tail! As calm returns and Godzilla and its brood continues to forage, Anna turns to the astonished Nick and Phillipe: "Okay, so maybe I have seen something a little unusual."

ACT II

Phillipe makes for the radio in Anna's jeep in an attempt to contact General Hicks. Nick pleads with him to wait. They argue. A shot suddenly rings out! The radio shatters! Phillipe and Nick turn to find Anna holding a gun on the pair! Anna reveals that she stumbled upon Godzilla over a year ago and has since dedicated herself to studying and protecting the creature with an almost militant determination. She remains hostile towards the pair, especially Nick. Nick tries to convince her that as a fellow scientist, he wants to help preserve the species not destroy it. He tells Anna he's come to prove that Godzilla and its brood are not responsible for the marauding attacks in the vicinity. But Anna refuses to believe him. She recognizes Nick as the person responsible for the first Godzilla's death. Nick has no choice but to come clean. He finally reveals the secret he's kept from Phillipe, that he rescued a BabyZilla in New York two years before and helped it escape - the same full grown Godzilla that is now running loose with a brood of its own! Phillipe is speechless! He can't believe that Nick would allow one of the creatures, especially knowing how rapidly they multiply. Phillipe is determined to carry out his threat of alerting General Hicks. Nick suddenly ducks behind the wheel of Anna's jeep and roars away! Realizing he has to do something drastic in order to win Anna's trust and prove to Phillipe that Godzilla is essentially harmless, Nick swerves the vehicle and drives straight for the towering fifty story creature! Phillipe and Anna watch in horror as Nick drives right up to Godzilla! A ROAR from Godzilla shatters every window in the jeep! Nick hops out and stands before the giant behemoth! Godzilla raises a foot, ready flatten Nick like a pancake when it suddenly stops short. Something about this particular human is familiar. In a touching scene, Godzilla recognizes its 'mother' and nuzzles Nick affectionately, much to the utter astonishment of Phillipe and Anna! Nick turns yells to the pair- "You see? He's really very gentle!" At that moment, Godzilla delivers a 'welcome home' ROAR that knocks Nick off his feet!

Sydney, Australia. Another giant egg larva is discovered on the outskirts of the city. General Hicks mobilizes his troops and heads Down Under. Another disturbing message arrives. There's been no word from Phillipe or Nick for some time. They seem to have vanished without a trace…

In the Outback, Nick has a new problem: Godzilla follows him everywhere! And wherever Godzilla goes, its babies are sure to follow. This makes for some amusing situations, especially when Godzilla insists on sleeping beside Nick! Having won Anna's trust, Nick invites her to study the Zillas up close and personal. She shares some of her findings with Nick, including the fact that a full-grown Godzilla is capable of reproducing only once, and that the size of the brood is determined by carrying capacity of the land. Nick wrestles with his blossoming attraction for Anna. After all, technically he's a married man (Nick's attempts at contacting his new wife and explaining his whereabouts are continually met with her screaming at him and hanging up!). During this period, Nick tries to convince Phillipe that Godzilla is docile and nonagressive creature that attacks only when its young are threatened. All three are amazed at the tenderness Godzilla shows its young, especially to the Runt. Nick and Anna are certain they're witnessing the birth of a new natural order, that Godzilla is the next step in an evolutionary process accelerated by the nuclear testing fallout. Phillipe is beginning to come around, to believe that perhaps there is a place in the world for Godzilla after all.

But when Godzilla suddenly steals away one night leaving its sleeping brood, Phillipe once again becomes suspicious. The three follow Godzilla in Anna's jeep some twenty miles to the deserted North Coast where they watch the giant creature disappear into the ocean. Nick is heartsick. Is it possible Godzilla has been making the various raids in order to feed its brood? Are the Zillas being fed a steady diet of human captives? If so, then there would be no choice left but to destroy them. Suddenly, the ocean is lit up from beneath by bizarre flashes of lights (this is actually the first clue we have that Godzilla can breathe fire). Schools of tuna swarm to the surface! Godzilla explodes out of the water, forcing hundreds upon hundreds of the fish onto the beach! Nick, Anna, and Phillipe watch the amazing spectacle as Godzilla continues to herd schools of tuna onto the beach! As dawn approaches, another incredible sight greets them - Godzilla's brood appears on the horizon! Descending on the beach, the hungry Zillas begin gorging on the stranded fish! Nick now has the proof he's come after. Even Phillipe has to admit he was wrong, that Godzilla is not responsible for the other attacks. But if not Godzilla, then who?? Or better yet, what? In order to answer than question, the trios decide to take a little trip…

Monster Island. Godzilla's birthplace. Following Godzilla's death, a clean sweep of the island produced no other biological anomalies. For two years the island has been off limits to visitors, its water heavily patrolled by U.N. warships. Approaching the island Nick, Anna, and Phillipe don wet suits and scuba gear in an effort to slip past the blockade. Swimming toward the island, the three are suddenly engulfed by a giant shadow and are stunned to witness a blue whale three times its normal size glide silently past!

On the island itself, more strange discoveries await - a plethora of new species, some mutated beyond recognition! Even so, there's nothing on the island that seems capable of kind of destruction being reported around the world. Suddenly, the skies above them darken. A strange buzzing sound fills the air. What seems to be an approaching dark cloud turns out to be a huge swarm of mutated winged insects equipped with vicious mandibles and deadly wasp like stingers! The Buick-sized insects appear to be carrying something wrapped in their six spiny legs. Nick, Anna, and Phillipe watch in horror as the insectoids land and release their human captives!

When one man tried to escape he is immediately set upon and stung to death! Meanwhile, wingless termite-like insects swarm out of an underground next and herd the human captives underground. Nick, Phillipe, and Anna prepare to follow. Suddenly, HORRIBLE SCREAMS emanate from the entrance to the underground nest! One by one they die out until an eerie silence is all that remains. And just when things can't get any worse, the QUEEN BITCH emerges from the opening; a HUGE and ferocious-looking winged insectoids that the other insects flock around, tending to her every need. She is one nasty bug (and not above dining on her own kind!) As Nick, Anna, and Philippe look on, the Queen takes flight and disappears out over the ocean, heading for God-knows-where. He horrible realization sinks in. People are being abducted from around the world and brought to Monster Island to be used as food by these horrible insectoids. Nick and Anna conclude that Godzilla and its brood are the natural predators of these bugs. But because of man's interference, the natural on Monster Island has been disrupted. With no controls through natural predation (aka Godzilla), these insectoids will continue to multiply and spread, threatening the entire world! Somehow, Godzilla and its brood must be led back to Monster Island in order to bring the insectoids under control and reestablish order and harmony in the food chain.

Phillipe suddenly becomes extremely agitated, insisting they return to the Outback at once. Nick and Anna are perplexed by their friend's strange behavior. Phillipe tells them that Godzilla and its brood are in grave danger. The truth finally comes out. Philippe has tipped of General Hicks and the Global Task Force as to Godzilla's whereabouts! Nick and Anna are stunned! Why would he do such a thing?? Phillipe reveals he was frightened by the number of Zillas they encountered. Ironically, he had nightmarish visions of Godzillas taking over the world which is what prompted his actions. Nick feels betrayed. He and Phillipe fight. Anna breaks it up. She tells them to settle it later. Time may be running out for Godzilla…and the world.

But they're too late…Nick, Anna, and Philippe return to a scene of agonizing devastation. Zillas lie dead everywhere! The countryside is rutted and pockmarked from explosions. The surprise attack by the Global Task Force has come from ground and air. General Hicks and his troops are advancing on Godzilla and one last baby (the Runt) when Nick, Anna, and Philippe arrive on the scene. Nick races past the troops and missile launchers out toward Godzilla and the Runt, causing Hicks to call a cease-fire. Nick looks around at the carnage, at the valiant fight Godzilla put up to save its babies. With tears in his eyes, Nick turns helplessly to Godzilla: "I'm sorry…" The look in Godzilla's eyes is one of heartbreak and betrayal. It ROARS in anguish before suddenly burrowing underground and escaping with the Runt. Nick stands alone amidst the devastation, feeling sick… Meanwhile, Phillipe is congratulated by General Hicks. But Phillipe tells the General they've made a terrible mistake. By killing the Zillas, they may have just doomed the rest of the world. Before General Hicks can respond, he receives a message from Sydney: something bizarre is occurring to the giant egg larva…

ACT III

Near downtown Sydney, a huge greenhouse-like enclosure has been built around the larval egg, giving scientists an opportunity to study the strange phenomenon in a controlled environment. Tanks and missile launchers surround the enclosure as a protective measure against whatever might hatch from the egg. The surrounding downtown area has been evacuated. Nick realizes egg was laid by the Queen and is the first step in what will eventually lead to a worldwide spread of the deadly insectoids. He pleads with General Hicks to destroy it. While the pair argue, the Queen Bitch makes a sudden appearance, intent on protecting her egg! She quickly lays waste to Hick's troops garrison! While Nick, Anna, and Phillipe run for cover, a familiar figure suddenly bursts up through the pavement - GODZILLA! And there, hanging onto Godzilla's tail, the Runt! Godzilla goes up against the Queen Bitch in a spectacular pitched battle throughout downtown Sydney! At one point, Godzilla takes a nasty sting in the throat that temporarily paralyzes it. The Runt goes to help but it immediately set upon by the vicious Queen! Without hesitation, Anna races forward to aid the Runt! But the queen succeeds in killing the baby and grabbing up Anna, much to Nick's horror! Godzilla comes to and see its dead baby. It roars in anguish before turning on the Queen's egg larva and torching it with a burst of atomic fire breath!! Wow… The Queen Bitch screams in rage and takes wing, Anna struggling in its spiny clutches! Nick, Phillipe, and Hicks watch as Godzilla dives into the ocean, head for Monster Island and a final showdown with the Queen Bitch…

Nick and Phillipe put aside their differences in order to go after Anna. General Hicks organizes a military rescue, led by a squadron of jet fighters. He jumps into an Apache chopper together with Nick and Phillipe. As the chopper lifts off, Hicks remembers to give Nick a note he's been carrying. Nick reads it and his face drops even further. "Bad news?" Asks Phillipe. "I'm not sure," Nick responds, handing Phillipe the note. His marriage has been annulled…

On approach to Monster Island, they are attacked by a swarm of the mutated insectoids! A spectacular battle in the sky follows as the jet fighters take on the insects! But the insect numbers prove to be overpowering. The battle ends with every jet down and the Apache chopper crash landing on the island just as Godzilla wades ashore to take up the attack! Nick, Phillipe and Hicks scramble from the wreckage of the downed chopper as all hell breaks loose! Godzilla is under assault from the flying insectoids above and the wingless termite-like bugs on the ground! Bursts of atomic fire breath incinerate everything within range! While Hicks awaits reinforcements, Nick and Phillipe make their way into the maze of deserted underground passageways in search of Anna. The pair stumble upon an enormous underground chamber where hundreds of half-starved human prisoners are being guarded by a handful of wingless insectoids. Using incinerator grenades, Nick and Phillipe manage to kill the insect guards. Nick and Anna embrace in an emotional reunion.

Phillipe, Nick, and Anna begin to lead the others topside when the Queen Bitch suddenly appears, blocking their way and trapping them inside the underground chamber! The Queen Bitch advances and is about to devour Nick or lunch when Godzilla suddenly burrows through the cavern wall! Godzilla and the Queen Bitch square off for one final Giant Monster Battle! Nick, Anna, and Phillipe lead the captive people topside as the fight progresses above ground! This time, Godzilla is the victor, vanquishing the Queen Bitch and bring natural order back to the Monster Island ecosystem. General Hicks' reinforcement suddenly arrive. They line up their big guns to take out Godzilla once and for all. Godzilla is all but defenseless, spent and exhausted from his battle with the Queen Bitch. Nick, Anna are so enraged that Hicks order them put under protective custody. All appears lost. Believing he's doing the right thing for humanity, General Hicks is about to give the order to fire when an extraordinary thing occurs - the hundreds of people that have been set free form a protective circle around Godzilla! And there leading the blockade is none other Phillipe! And in that moment, General Hicks realizes pulling the trigger on Godzilla would be the wrong thing to do. He orders his troops to withdraw. LOUD CHEERS go up from the people that Godzilla helped set free! Suddenly, a new sound reaches everyone's ears. Just then, another Godzilla wades onto the shores of Monster Island, calling for its mother! The Runt wasn't killed after all! The sight of its baby revives Godzilla and the pair have a touching reunion.

Later, against a brilliant sunset, Nick, Anna, and Phillipe say goodbye to Godzilla and the Runt as the pair return to the ocean…THE END

The apprentice of Darth Sidious, he was taken at an early age to be trained in the ways of the dark side of the Force. In 33 BBY, Sidious gave Maul his first mission: destroy the criminal organization Black Sun.[3] Maul carried out this task perfectly, dealing the group a grievous blow. In 32 BBY, the Invasion of Naboo began. Set up by the Dark Lord with the aid of his apprentice, the goal was to get Sidious, as Senator Palpatine, elected Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. After Amidala, queen of the Naboo, escaped, Maul was dispatched to follow her. He found her on Tatooine, where he had a short but intense duel with the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Later, Maul was sent to Naboo, where he fought Jinn and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Though he killed the Jedi Master, he underestimated Kenobi’s skill and was slain by the Padawan. Sidious would quickly replace Maul with a more powerful apprentice, the fallen Jedi Master Dooku. In 0 BBY, Darth Vader encountered and defeated a clone or dopplegänger of Maul created by the Secret Order of the Empire, possibly under orders from Palpatine. Maul was a master of Juyo, Jar'Kai, and Teräs Käsi, and chose to use a red double-bladed lightsaber for combat. Early life (54 BBY to 32 BBY) "It was a man… But like no other man…" ―Asa Naga[src] Darth Maul was a Zabrak born on Iridonia, the home planet of his species. Much of his early life is unknown, including his real name, but it is known that his master, Darth Sidious, took him from his family at a very early age. A younger Darth Maul training under Darth Sidious. Maul began training with Sidious at an early age, who indoctrinated in him the ways of the dark side of the Force. During his training, any show of fear was severely punished by Sidious, and any hint of mercy rewarded with cruelty. While fanatically devoted, Maul did maintain a bit of vanity: in the upper curvature of his left ear, a small, silver stud was positioned. It is unknown whether this was part of his master's indoctrination, but as few other successive Sith Lords possessed piercings, it can be assumed that this was merely personal preference. He also had his own sense of honor, respecting those he deemed worthy opponents and granting them quick deaths. By the time Maul was an adolescent, his master had already forged him into a weapon of pure hatred. Marked by Sith tattoos that covered his entire muscular body, the young Zabrak was now the ultimate tool of the dark side. Despite a traumatic childhood, Maul had filial feelings toward his master, and never once contemplated killing him—until his final test. Silus "Wipe them out. All of them" ―Darth Sidious[src] At some point in 33 BBY, Sidious pitted Maul against the Force-sensitive Drovian Silus, sending Maul to an unknown planet in the Outer Rim. Sidious claimed Silus to be a threat to his plans, due to the surge in the dark side created by the Drovian. Should the Jedi feel it through the Force too, Sidious's presence could be threatened; that, however, could just have been used to persuade Maul into doing his master's bidding. Silus was a hulking, savage brute using the Force for financial gain by pitting himself against other lesser opponents in a dueling ring. Sidious offered to take Silus on as his new apprentice should he be able to kill Maul. He found the Drovian, and after showing him a holo-message of his master containing Sidious' proposal of replacing Maul with Silus the two began to fight. A nullifier field surrounding the dueling ring prevented use of energy weapons, rendering Maul's lightsaber useless and forcing the pair into fighting using only the Force and unarmed combat tactics. Sidious' proposal of replacing Maul with Silus alarmed and unnerved his apprentice, causing a near-fatal lack of focus that allowed Silus to gain the upper hand. Calling upon his rage Maul prevailed in the end, using the Force to overload the field and using his lightsaber to end Silus' wretched life. Darth Sidious then revealed to Maul that the ordeal had only been a test. Ultimate test Darth Sidious applies Sith tattoos all over Maul's body. The ultimate test came when Maul was abandoned by his master on an isolated Outer Rim Territories world, forced to survive alone while being hunted by hordes of assassin droids. After a month's time, Sidious returned and challenged his apprentice to a lightsaber duel, one which Maul quickly lost. Sidious then tossed Maul's lightsaber aside and told Maul that he had failed, and revealed that he had been secretly training another apprentice to replace Maul the entire time. Rage and hatred overwhelmed Maul and, in one final act of defiance, he lunged forward and sunk his teeth into his master's hand. As he spat the blood back into his master's face in contempt, Maul realized he was no match for the Dark Lord of the Sith, and when Maul's emotions were finally spent, he prepared himself for death. Sidious struck his lightsaber down on Maul, but without killing him since it had only been a training lightsaber. Sidious then laughed. By wanting to kill his own master, Maul had in fact passed the final test. There had been no other apprentice. Sidious proclaimed him Darth Maul, a Lord of the Sith and took him to a new home on Coruscant. Black Sun and other missions "Stealth is the greatest tool of the Sith assassin." ―Darth Sidious[src] Maul originally went on countless missions of terror for his master, killing politicians, crime bosses, merchants, and warlords. Maul's very appearance had been carefully conceived to inject fear into the heart of the Sith's enemies and even their unwitting allies. Despite his untold successes, Maul longed for victory over Jedi. Victims of his included Lorn Pavan, Jedi Master Anoon Bondara, the Black Sun leader Alexi Garyn and his Nightsister guard Mighella, and all of the Black Sun vigos of 33 BBY, including Darnada and Morn. In addition, he killed the assassin Sinya. Maul riding Bloodfin. One of Maul's more notable missions was to unite Lommite Limited and InterGalactic Ore, two companies operating on Dorvalla, a planet in the Outer Rim, in order for the Trade Federation to move in and control all shipping of the ore. Lommite ore was an important component of transparisteel, a durable metal alloy used in many construction projects. Wilhuff Tarkin issued a challenge to the two companies for a major contract and both companies looked to the Toom clan to sabotage the other. This led to the loss of the majority of each company's ore transportation ships, and because of this the two companies made a joint effort to destroy the Toom clan. Maul followed the small army to the battlefield and, once they destroyed the Toom clan, killed the survivors, including high-ranking members of Lommite Limited such as Patch Bruit and the Falleen Caba'Zan, who was the leader of the InterGalactic Ore portion of the army. The mission was a success since the two companies' leaders came together and the Trade Federation received its prize. Another notable mission was to kill Hath Monchar, the Neimoidian Vice-Viceroy of the Trade Federation, and anyone he may have talked to about the trade embargo of Naboo. Maul learned that Monchar intended to sell a holocron that contained details of the embargo to Lorn Pavan, an information broker on Coruscant. Maul had to face both Jedi Padawan Darsha Assant and her Master Anoon Bondara. Maul dueled Bondara in a lightsaber fight on top of a building and nearly lost his life in the ensuing explosion when Bondara destroyed Maul's speeder bike. Darsha and Pavan escaped into the sewer system where they encountered and killed subterranean lifeforms. They made it to a cavern where they fought and escaped from a taozin, a Force resistant beast. Later Darsha Assant blew up the warehouse that they were fighting in, in an attempt to prevail where her Master had failed, claiming her life in the process. Maul escaped the inferno and continued to hunt for Pavan. Pavan followed Maul into space, and had a chance to kill Maul when he was hibernating on board a space station. However, Pavan's blaster only had enough power for a single kill shot or three stun shots, and he was worried about missing. He planned to hit Maul in the back with a stun bolt, and then try to steal his lightsaber and kill him. Maul was seemingly unaffected by the shot and woke up. He then pursued Pavan through the station and Pavan escaped. The mission ended when Maul ambushed Pavan outside of his room in a hotel on Coruscant and decapitated him.[4] The Invasion of Naboo (32 BBY) "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge." ―Darth Maul[src] Duel on Tatooine "This is my apprentice, Darth Maul. He will find your lost ship." ―Darth Sidious to Nute Gunray[src] Maul duels Qui-Gon Jinn on Tatooine. Prior to the Invasion of Naboo, Maul was dispatched to eliminate the Jedi who had been sent by the Republic to settle the conflict. After tracking them to the planet of Tatooine using the Force—and killing Aneesa Dym, a Pa'lowick smuggler who got in the way—Maul engaged the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Following a brief but intense duel Qui-Gon escaped, but with the fear of what would become the eventual revenge of the Sith. He only used one side of his double-bladed lightsaber in this short duel. Maul, having failed in his task to prevent Queen Amidala and the Chosen One from reaching Coruscant, was eager to exact revenge on the Jedi Knights. Duel on Naboo "You have been well trained, my young apprentice. They will be no match for you." ―Darth Sidious[src] In a second, vicious duel on Naboo—this time against both Qui-Gon and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi—Maul showed his true mastery of the lightsaber arts. Maul faces Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Naboo. A long and intense battle ensued, with Maul seemingly on the defensive but in actuality, steering the battle to a location of his choice. Drawing the Jedi out of the hangar and into the Palace reactor room, he engaged them on the high catwalks. Kicking Obi-Wan off the platform onto one of the lower catwalks, he turned to Qui-Gon, only to be knocked down himself. As Qui-Gon leapt down to deliver the killing blow, Maul kicked him in the gut and quickly righted himself. However, the Jedi Master delivered a flurry of attacks and drove Maul along the catwalk into the laser-walled security hallway protecting one of the exhaust shafts. Suddenly, the walls activated, separating Qui-Gon and Maul, but also Obi-Wan from Qui-Gon. With the battle momentarily halted, the three took a moment to recover, with Maul pacing like a caged animal. Maul killing Qui-Gon Jinn. When the wall deactivated, Qui-Gon immediately attacked, driving Maul to the edge of the shaft. However, Maul managed to regain the offensive. In the confined space around the shaft, Qui-Gon was unable to adequately counter-attack, and Maul eventually smacked the Jedi Master in the face with his weapon's long hilt, causing Qui-Gon to drop his lightsaber. Once this act was finished, Maul quickly impaled him in the stomach. Turning to Obi-Wan, Maul again awaited the laser-walls deactivation. As soon as it did, the Jedi Padawan viciously attacked, momentarily catching Maul off guard, even managing to sever Maul's weapon in two. Discarding the nonfunctional lesser half of his weapon, Maul unleashed a flurry of his own attacks, driving Obi-Wan back. Eventually, Maul pushed Obi-Wan into the shaft. As Obi-Wan grasped hold of a (mercifully inactive) input nozzle, Maul kicked the Jedi Padawan's lightsaber into the pit. Death As Darth Maul taunted Obi-Wan with lightsaber strikes on the edge of the pit, the Jedi Padawan managed to calm himself. Although Maul disposed of his lightsaber, Obi-Wan remembered his fallen master's weapon still lay at Qui-Gon's side. Using the Force, Obi-Wan leaped out of the melting pit and summoned the lightsaber to his hand. The Jedi Padawan landed after a mid-air turn, executing a blindingly fast horizontal slash that bisected Maul. Maul's two halves tumble down the shaft. Flinching in shock and pain, Maul fell backwards into the melting pit with a vague and muted yell, his two halves separating. After briefing the Jedi Council and the newly elected Supreme Chancellor, Obi-Wan was sworn to secrecy, as well as Queen Amidala, regarding the identity of the assassin and his connections to the Sith. Maul's death was an unfortunate setback for Darth Sidious, but for a calculating man with foreknowledge of the future, it was not a disaster. Perhaps it was even deliberate. Within a year Maul would be replaced with the late Qui-Gon's former Master, Darth Tyranus, who was not only a fully capable warrior and duelist, but also a charismatic idealist, exactly the traits Palpatine needed to instigate the Clone Wars. Echo in the Force An apparition of Maul would later appear to the Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker in a crystal cave on Ilum, only a few years after his death. Anakin was to enter a cave (similar to one which Luke Skywalker would later have to enter on Dagobah). When Anakin went into a trance-like state, Darth Maul appeared and Anakin immediately attacked him. After a furious battle in which Maul taunted Anakin about Qui-Gon's death and about the boy's training lightsaber, Anakin won, but as real as he might have looked, this time Maul was a creation of the dark side.[5][6] It was not the last time the two would do battle.[7] The Program remains Galen Marek: "Shut down, PROXY. There's nobody inside you that I haven't already defeated." PROXY: "Give me some credit, Master. I have one module you've never seen. An enemy I've stored for years..." ―PROXY reveals the fighting mode of Darth Maul[src] The Emperor had recorded many of Maul's training sessions over the years. Using this data, a training program mimicking his fighting style was developed. Darth Vader placed this fighting program, along with many others, into PROXY, Galen Marek's droid. Proxy used Darth Maul's holographic visage in his final attempt to complete his primary programming: to kill his master. He failed once again, and Marek cut the double-bladed lightsaber in half and impaled the droid with the two pieces. Dopplegänger on Kalakar VI "What could you hate enough to destroy me?" "Myself." ―Darth Maul and Darth Vader[src] The demise of Darth Maul's dopplegänger at the hands of Darth Vader on Kalakar Six. Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, a dark side splinter group called the Prophets of the Dark Side managed to resurrect Darth Maul. It is unknown whether this Maul was created through cloning techniques, by using some form of Sith Alchemy to restore and reanimate Maul's actual corpse, or through other means. The Prophets themselves stated that "there are techniques to mold a being in every way." As an example to the lesser vassals of Palpatine's Galactic Empire and to put an end to the tainted Sith Apprentice, Darth Vader, was chosen as the first target for the dark warrior. These dark side worshipers believed Vader to be too much of a Jedi to be a worthy Sith Lord.[7] On the shadowy volcanic moon Kalakar Six, Vader thought he would intercept a Rebel courier with the stolen plans to the first Death Star. Instead, he was met by a reborn Darth Maul and the observing dark acolytes. Darth Maul then dueled Vader. The two appeared to be evenly matched until Vader cut Maul's saber in two. Unlike on Naboo, this time both ends of the weapon continued to function, allowing Maul to switch to the Jar'Kai style. Due to his size and armor, Vader had a difficult time countering this style, and Maul gained the advantage. Yet, in the final moments of the battle, Vader surprised Maul by stabbing his lightsaber through his own body (and, through proximity, Maul as well), damaging his own life-support circuits and almost losing his own life in the process. With Maul defeated, the observing acolytes were executed by the newly-arrived Palpatine himself for their "treacherous" act towards his rule.[7] It is possible that this "resurrection" of his former apprentice was a test prepared by him for his new apprentice, although this has not been confirmed. Personality and traits "Maul had been an animal. A skilled animal, but a beast nonetheless." ―Darth Tyranus's thoughts on Darth Maul[src] Abilities Darth Maul was a fierce warrior, able to easily engage a Jedi Master and Padawan in battle. Darth Maul was a skilled lightsaber duelist, trained by Darth Sidious in Form VII, which drew on emotions and the dark side. Maul also mastered the fighting style of Teräs Käsi, and was also skilled in the Jar'Kai style of duo-saber fighting. Unlike the traditional dueling techniques of most Jedi, Maul combined his swordsmanship with martial arts and hand-to-hand combat skills—a combination which made him a nearly unstoppable dervish of destruction. He also mastered the Sith lanvarok. Due to intense training by Darth Sidious and his Zabrak heritage, Maul was able to withstand immense amounts of physical pain. While on the hunt for Alexi Garyn, After being clawed, and stabbed, he soon ran into one of the elite body guards, a Night Sister, who then used force lightning to try to subdue Maul. Maul shrugged off the attack and sliced her in half. However, it should be noted that Maul only devoted himself to Form VII's physical focus, desiring pure physical victory, rather than the "higher" Sith tradition of Dun Möch, dominating the opponents spirit and exposing his inner doubts through taunts and psychological warfare. When crippling the Black Sun Syndicate Maul came across an Iktotchi Guard who in turn attempted to read his mind in order to find who sent him and who he was hunting. Maul let him but the Iktotchi was soon incapacitated because of the darkness of his mind. Maul then neutralized the guard. Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber. When fighting multiple opponents, Maul extended the second blade of his lightsaber to form a saberstaff, doubling his lethality as Jedi rarely faced such a weapon, or a skilled practitioner in its use. Maul often used this to catch opponents by surprise. Maul had constructed the weapon himself, using ancient plans stored within one of the holocrons the Sith still possessed. He had based his lightsaber design upon that of Darth Zannah's weapon, which in turn had been a development on Exar Kun's original design. It is likely that this choice also came from his species' penchant for the zhaboka, a similar weapon. Darth Maul was also skilled in combining Force talents with mechanics. Sidious gave Maul the funds and schematics he needed, and provided his apprentice with a secret facility on Coruscant in which to work. There Maul constructed his signature speeder bike Bloodfin and the Dark Eye seeker droids. Using the Force mechanical skill mechu-deru, Maul modified the protocol droid C-3PX into an assassin droid to guard his ship. He also used Force Grip and Force Choke in Shadow Hunter, choking Hath Monchar while interrogating him and then used Force Grip to lift him up and decapitate him. Sidious also gave Maul a powerful Sith Infiltrator called Scimitar which contained a cloaking shield generator. This vehicle was developed by Raith Sienar, the man whose company would later develop the TIE/ln starfighter for the Empire. Behind the scenes Darth Maul on Tatooine. "You worms are no match for the dark side!" ―Darth Maul[src] Darth Maul was played by martial arts specialist Ray Park and voiced by British actor Peter Serafinowicz. Darth Maul's striking visual design, in addition to his limited role in the film, have left many fans wanting to know more about him. Maul would also eventually appear in the Star Wars books By James Luceno, and other authors. In Shadow Hunter, Maul is depicted as "almost 2 meters tall". However in the rest of his appearances his height is supposed to be 1.75 meters. George Lucas had described Darth Maul as "a figure from your worst nightmare". Designer Iain McCaig thus offered Lucas a design based on a nightmare of his, which was rejected, but later inspired the Nightsister Sith witch. One day McCaig was trying to make "Sith lord versions" of the art department crew, and drew David Dozoretz, head of the animations group, with a circuit board on his face. Lucas got intrigued by the circuit board idea, and McCaig started producing similar caricatures. After getting frustrated with a drawing of production designer Gavin Bocquet, McCaig started covering it in tape. He liked the result, described as "a kind of Rorschach pattern", and so did Lucas. The final drawing had McCaig's own face, with a pattern based on three things: a concept of a "flayed flesh face", face-painting of African tribes and further Rorschach experimentation (dropping ink onto paper, folding it in half and opening).[8] Darth Maul's head originally had feathers, based on prayer totems, but the Creature Effects crew led by Nick Dudman interpreted those feathers as horns. Other changed design was his clothing, from a tight body suit with a muscle pattern to the Sith robe based on Samurai pleats, because the lightsaber battles involved much jumping and spinning.[8] Darth Maul's name is likely a reference to his role as Palpatine's personal assassin. His pre-Sith name is unknown; some (including notorious fraud SuperShadow) cite "Khameir Sarin" as a possibility, as it allegedly appears in some foreign translations of the Episode I novelization, but this has not yet been proven. The novelization of The Phantom Menace suggests that Darth Maul never dueled a Jedi before Qui-Gon Jinn[9]. This is contradictory to Darth Maul's Expanded Universe duels with Anoon Bondara and Darsha Assant[10]. Darth Maul on the cover of Super Bombad Racing. Shadday Potkin described Darth Vader as "Palpatine's mailed fist, Dooku's successor, Maul's inheritor." However, neither Shadday nor any Jedi should know Darth Maul's name and identity. It is possible that Nute Gunray or the Trade Federation may have leaked to the Federation about the name of the Sith or information on Maul's name could have been revealed to the Jedi through Gunray's mechno-chair, but this is unconfirmed. This is not the first time this mistake has been made; in Rogue Planet, Obi-Wan Kenobi mentions Maul by name, and Ferus Olin claims that every Padawan of his and Anakin's generation knew the story of Qui-Gon Jinn's death, and of how Obi-Wan had dueled Maul to the death. However, in the novelization of Revenge of the Sith, Anakin refers to Maul only as "the one Obi-Wan left in pieces on Naboo." Dooku then muses that "Maul had been an animal," but does not say his name. Darth Maul has appeared in many video games, during the planning stages of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Darth Maul was one of the characters being considered to have his own game centered around him. Instead he was given a cameo as one of PROXY's training holograms.[11] Other games that Darth Maul has appeared in include: Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace; Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battles; Star Wars: Battle for Naboo; Star Wars Episode I: Obi-Wan's Adventures; Star Wars: Obi-Wan; Lego Star Wars: The Video Game; Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy; Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga; Star Wars: Demolition; Star Wars: SuperBombadRacing. He also makes a non cannon appearance in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 as a secret unlockable character. Trivia It is unknown what happened to Darth Maul's lightsaber, although it is possible that at least one half was recovered by his master. In the non-canon ending of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Galen Marek undergoes reconstruction surgery much like Darth Vader and General Grievous and is made Darth Sidious' servant and assassin. He is given 6 lightsaber hilts by his new master, including one half of Darth Maul's. Non-canon appearances Darth Maul is a favorite subject for non-canon, what-if stories. He was first "resurrected" in Star Wars Tales 9, where he fought Darth Vader in the short Infinities story Resurrection, though it was never made clear in the story how this Maul was resurrected. Leland Chee later declared that the incident was canon, without clarifying the origins of this doppelgänger.[12] Warning: The following section is non-canon. It contains information explicitly released under the Infinities brand, and/or confirmed to be non-canon by the author or Lucasfilm. Everything said in this section and not elsewhere did not happen in the "proper" Star Wars continuity. Early life A young Maul steals a hoverboard from a bystander. During Maul's early years, he was sent to the Happy Nerf Herder, a maximum security home for wayward boys on Coruscant. While there, he was involved in a breakout and, upon escaping, went on a hunt for a lollipop. After using a cable to get to the nearby Mon Calamari Fish Market, Maul stole a hoverboard from a bystander, accidentally causing an explosion by doing so. He used this hoverboard to get to RIB hutt, where he crashed into an unknown Hutt before stealing a lightsaber from a Jedi who was at the restaurant. Maul used this lightsaber to jump off the side of the building and slow his landing by slicing the lightsaber down the building's side. Though the Jedi chased him, Maul eventually landed upon a granite slug which had attached itself to the building and dropped the lightsaber before landing on an airspeeder along with the slug. The airspeeder went along, out of control, before catapulting both Maul and the slug onto a nearby building which contained a lollipop shop. Before Maul was able to get his sought-after lollipop, however, he was taken captive by a Senate Guard who brought him before Senator Palpatine. Though the Guardsman wanted to take him back to the security home, Palpatine stated that Maul simply needed better guidance and that he would re-educate the boy personally. Maul finally got his lollipop as Palpatine put it in his mouth. Hunting Obi-Wan Darth Maul, returned from the dead, surviving thanks to a prosthetic lower half. "There is no Palpatine. No Empire. No Jedi. There is no light, no dark… just you and I here now." ―Darth Maul to Obi-Wan Kenobi[src] As it turns out, Maul somehow survived his bisection and subsequent fall into the reactor shaft on Naboo. Fitted with cybernetic legs, he began a vicious hunt for the only person to have defeated him; Obi-Wan Kenobi. He hunted the Jedi for many years, always being but a step behind him until 16 BBY when he discovered Owen Lars and a toddler-age Luke Skywalker. He attacked them menacingly while still staying in his hooded cloak, his triple-jointed droid legs (similar to Grievous's) the only part of him visible. He proceeded to call out through the Force to an unseen enemy he could nevertheless sense. The evil, psychic voice claimed to have been tracking this adversary for years, just missing him on Kamino, Geonosis, and Mustafar and to have killed many witnesses on Polis Massa before finally gaining crucial information in Mos Espa from an aged Toydarian junk dealer, who he then murdered. The dark creature declared that he knew threatening Luke Skywalker would bring his adversary out into the open.[13] At this point, a gray-haired Obi-Wan Kenobi burst from the sand and confronted Maul, provoking the former Sith to cast aside his cloak and reveal his identity. With his severed lower body replaced by a pair of large cybernetic legs and abdomen, and his cranial horns having grown, crown-like, to over three times their original length, Maul was consumed with greater hatred than ever before and clearly never resumed contact with his former master, having dedicated his new life to avenging himself on the man who had bested him. Maul and Kenobi rematch. Kenobi and Maul engaged in a furious rematch. Kenobi managed to gain the upper hand when he severed Maul's arm, cutting the darksider's weapon in two in the process, as well as breaking some of Maul's horns with his bare hand. Mouth gaping in a silent scream, Maul summoned the remaining half of his weapon and turned to face Kenobi, only to find himself facing the Jedi's lightsaber emitter[13]. With his lightsaber hilt to Maul's forehead and his finger on the blade-ignition button, Kenobi hesitated to execute his helpless opponent, but had the decision taken out of his hands when the revived Owen literally blew the former Sith's head off with his damaged rifle. Obi-Wan said he would take the body and burn it in the Dune Sea, to which Owen replied, "I told you I'd keep him safe, and I will. Even if that means from YOU. You don't come back here. Understand?" Obi-Wan departed with Maul's corpse, speaking to Luke through the Force, assuring him "Don't worry. I'll be right here… even if you can't see me."[13] Old Wounds is not officially announced as a canon story yet. But three sources do imply canonicity, although they don't necessarily mean it is canon: The Story of General Grievous: Lord of War by Abel G. Peña has a sentence that reads"The Soulless One was eventually tracked down by a cyborg acquaintance of Obi-Wan's, an old enemy who anonymously reported the ship to the local Imperial authorities." (however that was not stated to be Maul; it could have been any of Obi-Wan's old encounters, possibly even one who so far hasn't been given a name or story in the Expanded Universe), Star Wars: Battlefront II has Darth Maul appearing as a hero character on Polis Massa and Mustafar, planets he only visits in Old Wounds, but that is gameplay and not part of the storyline, and lastly, this story appears in "Star Wars: Visionaries", which has several different stories in it, but not all of them are canon. Not only did Leland Chee already say this was non-canon, but Watto was still alive in 1 ABY during the events of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, which was in the years following the events of Old Wounds, making this story indeed non-canon. Demolition games Darth Maul competing in Jabba's demolition games. "None shall survive." ―Darth Maul[src] Maul was somehow once more alive on Tatooine, sometime shortly after the Battle of Hoth. Before anyone had even seen him, the young Wade Vox felt his presence in the Force as a strange, prickling sense of fear as he was getting ready for combat in Jabba's demolition games; this feeling stayed with him throughout the combat, though Vox tried to shake off the feeling of impending dread after his narrow victory. It was soon after this that Jabba, floating over the Dune Sea and awaiting the next round of combat, spotted Maul's speeder bike on the horizon. Jabba lifted his arm to point at the object in the distance and his suspicions were soon confirmed by Bib Fortuna who informed his master that what he saw seemed to be a contraption favored by the Sith. Jabba let out a long, rumbling laugh and soon managed to convince Maul to take part in his demolition games so that Jabba could exploit his new "wild card" to gather even more ill-gotten gains. Maul fought against the other competitors on his Bloodfin, striking them down with its cannons as well as his double-bladed lightsaber though it is unknown what happened to him upon entering these games.[14] Holographic resurrection Jedi Master Luke Skywalker is attacked by Darth Maul's "solid state hologram" on Iridonia. "I will have my revenge…" ―Darth Maul[src] Later, during the reign of the New Republic, a mad Iridonian scientist named Drell Kahmf managed to retrieve and resuscitate Darth Maul's brain from where he was killed. This mad Iridonian scientist believed Maul to be a paragon of the Iridonian people. To the end of giving Maul new life he placed his brain in a chemical vat, wired up to a device which utilized technology he called a "solid-state holographic projection" which could manifest anywhere in Iridonia's capital. As a hologram, this wraithlike version of Maul had the ability to strike, but could not be struck back. When Jedi Master Luke Skywalker arrived on Iridonia in an ambassadorial capacity, he was attacked by the Jedi-hating holographic Maul. Not easily fooled by the dark warrior's ghostly appearance, Luke searched for the anomalous presence of Maul through the Force and stumbled upon Kahmf's hideout. Luke declared that "artificially keeping him alive was causing an unnatural disturbance in the Force" and scared Kahmf away before switching off the life-support system sustaining Maul's disembodied brain. Finally, Maul was brought to an end.

Who plays the borg queen in the TV series Star Trek Voyager?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Borg Queen is one of the most recognized villians in the star trek universe! The name was given to the Borg who existed within and served as a central nexus for the Borg Collective. It is my belief that only Species 125 may serve as the Borg Queen as I have never seen her represented by another species.

AnswerIf the question is asking about the actress who played the Borg queen, she was played by Alice Krige.

How much are publicity photos of original star trek cast worth?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That depends on the actor/s who have autographed them. William Shatner's autograph commonly goes for $100-$150 each. Patrick Stewart's for about $80, Brent Spiner's, Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn's for about $40 each. Some of the actors from Voyager and Enterprise autographs go for as little as $25 each. Of course, an autograph is only as good as the certificate of authenticity that accompanies it. If it doesn't come with one, chances are it is a forgery, so don't waste your money. And be sure the COA comes from a reputable company like Creation Entertainment or Scoreboard.

What are the central ideas of Inkheart?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The theme of Inkheart is that friendship can be found even among very different people. This theme applies to the story because the main characters where from two very different worlds. Yet, they where able to find a somewhat reliable friendship between certain characters. Although friendship was broken occasionally by lies and deceiving actions, they were able to work together. Such as the time Moe, a book repairer and Farid, a fictional character from a child's book worked together to save Moe's daughter and their friend Dustfinger. They did this by setting fire to Capricorn's fortress. This caused Capricorn and his men to stop their murderess actions which gave Moe and Farid time to save their loved ones.

What is the name of the mechanical owl in clash of the titans?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

In the original clash of the titans Hephaestus was ordered to build a mechanical replica of Bubo as an aid for Perseus. The mechanical owl or Bubo leads Perseus to the Stygian Witches, however the mechanical owl in the new movies is simply a cameo because sam worthington the lead in the movie thought the owl was a ridiculous thing to have in the movie. He thought it would ruin his career with and that it did not deserve to be in our movie.

Was there a sequel to the movie Starman?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No.

There was a spin off TV Series, that lasted about 20 episodes. My favorite show when it was on.

Also, K-Pax is kind of like it, but Jeff Bridges plays the role of a skeptic, opposite the alien character, of Kevin Spacey.
