It depends on the year and denomination. Keep in mind that until the 1980s or so, most coins did not carry a mintmark for the Philadelphia mint, the penny still keeps this tradition (pennies without a mintmark are minted at Philadelphia). Without a year and a denomination of the coin it is impossible to tell you exactly where the mintmark (if any) is.
Please post a new question and include the date, condition, and mintmark. The mintmark is located on the back of the coin below the words Five Cents. It may be blank or have a D or S.
