Is a 2000 Mercury Cougar a good reliable car?
A 2002 is, I don't know about a 2000. I think they are the same.

No ... the body and drivetrains are completely different. All Cougars until 1997 were rear-wheel drive and used a completely different frame. Cougars 1999 and onward are based on a Ford Contour, are front-wheel drive and a completely different drivetrain setup. __Edit__ while all that is well and good the 2000 cougar and the 94 tracer are both front wheel drive, but their flywheels are not compatible.
2000 Mercury Cougar with a broken headlight cover Do you need a whole new assembly or can you get the cover replaced If so where is the safest place to get the part?
I have a 2002 Mercury Cougar with a broken headlight cover and was told by the dealership that I would have to get an entire new assembly. I have been looking for about 8 months and I have to tell you, they are almost impossible to find and very expensive. $225-$325 if you can find one. Good luck! Sealed unit, you have to replace the headlight, eBay has them often.
If your question refers to the Mercury Cougars produced between 1999 and 2002' then you have several options. Assuming that it is a V6, for a stock replacement, you can either track down another Cougar, or find a V6 Mercury Mystique, or Ford Contour, or provided you are in Europe, a Ford Mondeo of a similar year and engine. If you want a little more muscle in your Cougar, you can track down and attempt…
Typically it means you should start saving for a new alternator. One of the not so rare engineering flaws on this generation Cougar is the alternator, which will die due to poor factory wiring fairly often. There are mods to fix this problem, and Ford Lincoln Mercury dealers will see instructions to change the wiring of the alternator to be like that of the '01 and '02 Cougar2s when they go to change the Alt…

What would cause the battery to not charge even when the alternator tests good on a 93 Mercury Cougar?
You replaced blower resistor on 2000 mercury cougar and air doenst workmotor and switch good what else could it be?
Any fuse that blows immediately indicates a direct short to ground...either in the harness or in a related component. Power from the fuse is being sent to the car's ground system instead of to the load it was intended to power. This will take a good wiring diagram and a voltmeter or test light to locate.
Most of the Ford Family of cars have the Pin type wiper holders. In which case, breaking that plastic piece on the wiper itself is really the easiest way to remove them. To replace them, just insert the pin through the metal of the wiper and the plastic insert. It should make a click sound and check to make sure it's in there good.
Does any body know what would cause your battery light to go on your battery dies within an hour after you charge it your alternator is good please h e l p its a 2000 Mercury cougar?
waddup man my girl has a 95 mercury mystake (mystique) and the same thing happened i replaced two alternators in two days and found out the original one was fine it was a compter in the car (those little electrical harnesses in the engine) and it was corroded so bad it wouldnt keep a charge to the battery and was constantly draining it...
What would cause a 2000 Lincoln ls v 8 to lose power and chug and then take off real good and then rev and die and rev and die then run good sometimes then do the same thing again?
I too have a 2000 Lincoln Ls V8. It also did the same thing, but not consistantly, although it did it more often whenI finally took it in. It was the Fuel Pump and the Fuel Filter. It cost over 900.00 to fix, not pretty.... My 1985 Mercury Cougar V6 had similar problems some years ago. The problem was a cracked ignition pick-up module. == == == == test
