With proper shot placement and bullet constuction, yes.
Only for very short ranges, and the .30-30 would be a considerably more substantial cartridge.
That is a matter of opinion.I have seen most people shoot a .44 Magnum from a handgun and were not able to hit a man size target at 35 yards.I have seen some that were able to make some very small groups at 75 yards. The 44 magnum is a cartridge that takes a lot of practice to master. This all comes from the amount of recoil generated by the cartridge in question. The biggest part is to master the recoil generated without flinching. The 44 magnum will take game the size of deer and black bear out to 100 yards.I consider this the max effective range of this cartridge with practice.
Use a .22 magnum. It will kill a deer.
I limit my shooting of deer-sized game to 100-125 yards with the 30-30 cartridge. If you hunt in the East, most deer will be shot within that distance. Good Luck!
The 7mm cartridge is fine for deer, but the keep the bullet grain down using a 150grain which is better for deer.
No. .243/6.5mm is the minimum allowed for deer in NC.
its not a 357 maximum its a 357 magnum i would know i have one ruger .357 magnum speed 6 but yes you can as long as you have a hunting permit
Absolutely, if the shooter knows his weapon, and it's limitations. The .41 Mag in a rifle developes more than enough knockdown to take deer to 100 yds. easily, if the shooter is proficient with the gun, and knows shot placement. Some folks might hold to a little more distance, but I think the .41 Mag should be kept to not much more than 100 yds. I agree. The .41 magnum is on the list of approved cartridges for deer hunting published by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Since it is actually a pistol cartridge with a heavy, relatively slow moving bullet, the range limit of 100 yards is a good recommendation, I think.
The effective range of a 7mm-08 Remington cartridge typically extends from 300 to 600 yards for hunting purposes, depending on the shooter's skill and the specific rifle setup. It's well-regarded for its accuracy and low recoil, making it suitable for various game, including deer and elk. The cartridge's performance can vary based on bullet type and weight, but it generally performs well within this range.
Typically a winchester model 1894 in 30-30caliber is a rifle with a 100-150 yard range limit to kill a deer size animal. This is limited to the cartridge remaining energy in foot pounds at that range.if you choose to shoot a model 1894 for plinking at the range then the shooting range is as far as you can shoot accurately.
Deer live in herds. Their home is called their "range".
A 44 magnum typically can kill a deer up to 200 yards. The sheer weight of the bullet, however, can allow the 44 magnum to reach even farther but this would require much practice firing. Compensations would need to be made to reach such distances by raising the angle of trajectory, maintaining a firm grip, pointed/heavy bullets, and practice, practice, practice. Hope this helps.
