Yes, for show purposes they belong to the Terrier Group. The AKC groups Miniature Schnauzers with the Terriers, because they were developed for a similar purpose and have a similar character to the other terrier breeds.
No. Although the poodle is classed in the Non-Sporting group, the poodle was originally a retriever. Terriers were developed for hunting out burrowing animals, and as such, have a totally different temperament.
No, but they are closely related. One of the breeds used in creating the Doberman breed was the Manchester Terrier. The pinscher in Doberman Pinscher means "terrier" in German but they are no longer called that because they are made up of so many different breeds that to call them a terrier is not really accurate anymore.
Dachshunds are considered to be hounds, not terriers.
No. The Dachshund is not a hybrid! There is actually no dog set called the hybrid. The dachshund is actually part of the HOUNDS set.
The Doberman Pinscher was named after the breed founder, Louis Dobermann. The word ''Pinscher'' was added as it is German for Terrier. However, as the Doberman Pinscher is not actually a Terrier, the word ''Pinscher'' has been dropped from the name in the UK and is called the ''Dobermann'' instead. In other countries the name has stayed as ''Doberman Pinscher'' although the breed has very little Terrier blood and is not classed in the Terrier breed Group.
To me it would have to be the doberman or the bull terrier.
of course they can! all dogs can mate with each other, just like humans. i actually have a little fellow that is half boston terrier half doberman. i have seen mom and dad and the owners are also shocked at the results. he is definitely very cute. he has the brown doberman colours, he's bigger than a boston terrier but smaller then a doberman, he has beautiful underlying black brindle through his brown fur.

This might sound funny but little dogs such as a Terrier will act more dominent then a big dog such as a Doberman, I for one have owned both at the same time and my Doberman let my Terrier push him around. My Terrier actually was very protective of his food and did not like to be touched and would growl if you had anything to do with anything you touching him or food. My Doberman will let you do anything to him and you can put your hand in his mouth and him just lays there like it's no big deal. I have heard of many cases like these and have seen them. So to answer your question little dogs are actually more vicious then bigger dogs, usually.
