Yes it is a portable media player. There is also software out there that helps you put your media on it. I use 123 copy DVD gold which works well for me and is easy, but what you choose it up to you.

I think UMD stands for Universal Media Disc and PSP stands for Play Station Portable if that's what your asking for.
If you want a little portable player the PSP GO is Better than the PSP. The PS3 is the better machine for non portable use because it is much more than just a game player, but it also allows the use of more equipment than a single PSP.

PSP UMD movies are about a lot of different things. Basically it is movies and television shows released in the United States on the Universal Media Disc (UMD) for the Playstation Portable (PSP).
