A printer is an output device... UNLESS it's an 'all-in-one' in which case it's an input device too !
Scanner is a input device. Printer is one of the output device. All like keyboard, scanner, mouse are input devices.
all in one printer, which has scanner, printer, copier, and fax
Scanners can only be used as an input device. They scan the image placed inside/ontop and digitalise it and display it on your computer screen. The only type of scanner that can output is an "all-in-one" scanner/printer that can print out the images you scan in or other images from your PC, but that is not technically a scanner, it is a scanner, printer combination. So no, Scanners can only be used as input devices.
An input device is any piece of hardware that allows data (in any form) into a computer: a keyboard, a camera, a scanner are all input devices. (input = put in) An output device is any piece of hardware that allow users (us) to either see or remove data from a computer: monitors and printers are output devices. (output = put out)
A microphone and a computer mouse has only an output. That is an input device. A loudspeaker and a printer has only an input. That is an output device. A read-write CD/DVD, floppy disk, tape drive, and hard drive are all I/O devices because they can be used to store and retrieve data.
I Really Love Tech And I Think You Are All WRONG. It's Neither! It's NOT An Input. And It's NOT An Output! IT'S A STORAGE DEVICE!
Microphone is a input device because it's plugged in computer. All devices that you plug in computer are input devices.
Is a printer an input output or storage device
Its an output device. By visual display unit I assume you're referring to one of the following: a tv, a computer monitor or a laptop screen. All 3 are output devices. The difference b/w an input and an output device is simply user input. An input device receives input from a user, an output device does not. A mouse (receives user clicks), A microphone (receives user audio), a keyboard are input devices.
These are all example's of Data Input device's - as opposed to Data Output Device's like Monitor's, Projector's, Printer's etc.
