Yes! Not only would the cost of building any structures the size of what is required be extremely costly, but with the regulations and standards for housing and maintaining animals what they are today, the cost is enormous. These standards and regulations are there to protect the animals as well as the public, but they do drive up the cost of construction. But without many of these requirments in place, Zoos would not be the beautiful, natural places that they are, to see wild animals. While still being great educational sites about endangered species as well.
