It depends on what kind of beans. Kidney beans are high on protein, baked beans do have protein but also have a lot of fat, and green beans are high on protein but not as high as kidney beans. The beans that are highest in protein are soy beans followed by fava beans and kidney beans. Processing soy into tofu increases the nutrition that humans can absorb.

Beans are high in protein and even higher in starch, and they are complex carbohydrates that are low in calories and fat. Peas and beans do not have a complete protein structure, but what protein they do have is well utilized by the human body. Beans also contain adequate amounts of tryptophan and methionine. These amino acids are essential to the function of the brain.

That's the main reason I like beans too much!

A bean is a seed, a type known as a legume. If you are looking at a food group chart, green beans would be a vegetable. Other beans, such as pinto beans are part of the protein side- even though they are of plant origin.

Beans do not contain complete proteins. Foods that are complete proteins include meat and eggs. These foods have the amino acids that are the building blocks of protein.
