The koala is not even "endangered" in Australia.

∙ 10y agoBrown koala bears do not exist in name. The animal is known simply as a koala, not 'koala bear', as it is not a bear in any form.
There is just one species of koala, and that is Phascolartus Cinereus: the 'cinereus' literally means 'ash-coloured'. However, koalas in the southern regions of Australia do tend to have fur that is darker, tending towards brown more than grey, unlike their northern counterparts. These southern koalas are not at all rare: rather, they are probably more plentiful than the northern koalas.
