No....Cam Sensors (or more correctly, Camshaft Position sensors) are completely unrelated to the Oxygen Sensors (also known as O2 or Lambda Sensors).
Camshaft Positions Sensors are mounted near the engine's Camshaft, and determine the relative position of the camshaft at any particular point in time. The engine control software uses this signal for a variety of engine control tasks.
The Oxygen Sensors are mounted in the exhaust manifold, exhaust system or in both (depending on the make, model, and year of the car. They are used by the engine control software to determine if the A/F mixture is rich or lean, which is then adjusted accordingly. They are also used by the engine control software to diagnose the catalytic converter (as required by EPA and CARB regulations).
These, of course, are two separate systems.
Yes
The 94 and 95 are the same,no cam sensor.1996 and 1997 are differant in one way.The 1996 and 1997 have a cam sensor. .The 97 has a cam sensor and the 94 does not.The 1996 has a cam sensor too.
Never heard of an "ignition sensor". Do you mean oxygen sensor, or maybe crank position sensor, or cam position sensor? There is an ignition "module" also... The oxygen sensor is on the exhaust manifold. The crank posiiton sensor is on the backside of the block. The cam position is on each head.
i had the same problem but only with the cam sensor. i took it to the shop and they told me the computer that powers the sensor was bad. cost 1,000 to replace (labor and all). good luck
No, the crank sensor reads crankshaft speed. The cam sensor reads camshaft speed. The cam sensor is on the distributor on a 1999 2.5L
No
No. The crank sensor reads the crankshaft location and speed. The cam sensor reads the camshaft.
no. the upstream sensor is the one before the catalytic converter and the downstream is the one after
No.
NO They are not the same.
The crank sensor is on the top driver side of the bell housing. The cam sensor is inside the distributor. The crank sensor is on the top driver side of the bell housing. The cam sensor is inside the distributor.
an o2 sensor is the same as an oxygen sensor. vehicles can have up to 4
