It depends. If you walk home from one place to another, its OK to want one, because it could be your lifeline. If all your friends have one and constantly text each other and you want to text them too, than you WANT it.

∙ 15y agoDepends on many factors - some people's only means of communication is via mobile [cell] phones either by design or necessity. For others, it is a "want", as all they are trying to do is impress everyone else by showing that they can cause accidents and near-misses in traffic while chatting and driving at the same time.

Even in a developing country like India, number of mobile phone owners has already outnumbered the land line owners and going to make a world record with its vast populace. From a Technocrat to a sweeper,this user friendly device is a must to communicate with. Due to strict competition among mobile service providers, the call rate has come down drastically, making to accessible to the commoners.
