Dahlias are herbaceous perennials , they can be grown from seed and treated as annuals as in temperate climates frost will knock down the foliage and severe frost will kill the tubers.

Dahlias are perennials in tropical areas. Otherwise you need to dig the tubers up in the fall and bring them indoors. Replant outside when it is 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
