Many vets believe this isn't true, but many people believe that indeed a dog's tongue can heal (although not sterile.) When we were kids in the 40's and 50's if my brother or I scraped our knee and it was slow in healing the dog would lick it (my mother told us it would heal it) and it did! I believe it does. If one thinks that dogs were once wild how then did they manage to heal some of their wounds? They licked them of course so there must be healing properties in their saliva.

No. They get things stuck between their teeth, just like we do and bacteria forms. That is why you should get a doggie toothpaste and a doggie toothbrush to brush your pet's teeth once to twice a day.

Your dog can not walk without lurching?

It can lurch if you do not teach it not to. Go to animal planet and watch Me or the dog. It teaches families how to teach the dog(s) and you can use these methods. They really helped the families and it would or could really help you to train your dog(s). I love her methods and she(Victoria Stillwell) hates anything that will hurt the dog.
