Not really. It just depends on the Pokémon's Nature, and what stats are affected because of it.
The gender ratio for a starter pokemon to be a male is higher than the starter pokemon to be a female but it is possible to get female starters.
The starter pokemon are Tepig, Snivy, and Oshawatt. You chose from these three regardless of weather you choose a male or female character.
Go for bold type for female. I don't know how to get a male...yet.
the blue one is male and the others female
95.5% of the time it will be a male as your starter but if you keep restarting your game when you got a male it might be female after the first coupe of tries! The dude's right. That is what you should do. Yup i got a girl empoleon before i knew bout this i keep tradeing away piplups.

It asks you if you are male or female. You don't actually have to be truthful, select female for a female starter, even if you are male.
yes it depends on the sex (male or female) if your a male your starter is a girl like mine
You can only get Eggs if the male is in the same egg group as the female. yes
You must choose chimchar as your starter. If your starter is male, then you must reset the game many time and try again, until it's female. ATTENTION: Every starter (inklusive Eevee and other non-starters) is about 87,5% male and 12,5% female. It's rare to get a female starter.
Use a ditto. Or you can get a female at the start if you make a female instead of a male person.
it depends on what game but on most males are better because most wild Pokemon are female ACTUALLY sex does not determine battle effectiveness, males and females are almost exactly the same like every other gen since in began. Sex determine reproduction (female determines resulting Pokemon and male determines it's move-set). Since you talking about a starter, the only real advantage is that you can reproduce that Pokemon IF you can get one.

I think they are only 1/8 Female and 7/8 Male.
You get it as a starter. If it is a male try to reset game and get squirtle again. If not try again until you get female one.
