It can, or it can slow it down, as with car brakes. For moving objects, friction transforms kinetic energy into heat or other physical forces (ripping, tearing). As an example, conventional disk brakes slow a wheel down by pressing two surfaces together, generating heat. However, if a car's tires were to suddenly go flat, their rolling friction would become dragging friction, heating and tearing the rubber, and the car would probably not keep moving for very far.
A clay pigeon is a small clay disk that is thrown manually or with a automatic thrower to be used as a moving target. They do not resemble an actual pigeon in anyway other than they fly threw the air, resembling a flying target.
Hard disk is recorded, main comes and goes.
In a hard disk the heads fly above the surface on a thin cushion of air, to prevent wear to the disk or heads. Should something cause the heads to touch the moving disk surface it is called a "head crash" and is not all that different from an airplane crash, as the heads quit flying on their cushion of air.
A Nipkow disk (sometimes Anglicized as Nipkov disk; patented in 1884), also known as scanning disk, is a mechanical, geometrically operating image scanning device, invented by Paul Gottlieb Nipkow. This scanning disk was a fundamental component in mechanical television through the 1920s.
What you can do is have another SSD and set that as a cache disk so that the computer automatically loads up frequently-used pieces of data and programs onto the cache disk to speed up loading and doesn't require your mechanical hard disk to spin up all the time. However, if you have the mechanical disk set up as a boot disk, you could do the same with your existing SSD but move all the data off the SSD into the mechanical hard disk and then set the SSD as a cache disk. It will speed up your mechanical disk to a certain degree.
Artificial disk replacement is a surgery used to relieve back pain. Disk replacement surgery replaces an intervertebral disk with a mechanical device.
The three different types of mechanical valves include the caged-ball, tilting-disk and bileaflet valve.
