I think just a normal hamster because even though dwarf are a whole lot smaller and cuter, they can be really aggressive. Dwarf hamsters do live better together though... while hamsters can be very territorial, and can somtimes fight until death.
Truthfully, neither one. They are both extremely weird creatures and all they do is eat sleep and poop. Eleven year old's need a little more than that. Obviously a dog is out of the question. The smartest rodent out there is a rat. Don't get grossed out. Domestic rats are extremely smart. They're friendly, they don't bite. They're easy to clean and easy to feed. They eat what you eat. In other words, no special kibble or pellets (think of the savings there). They'll learn to ride around on your shoulder because, unlike hamsters and guinea pigs, they are very social and actually like to be with their people. The best cage is a tank because they don't do well in drafts and use shavings in the tank as bedding. It's really important to keep the cage clean, if you don't, the rat will get sick. Trust me, this is the best pet you'll ever own.
I personally WOULD NOT get them a hamster. They are so small and can fit in small areas, and with an 11 year old girl, I would get a Guinea Pig, They are SO much more loving and pretty, Oh and by the way RATS are extremely weird creatures, unless you want your daughter to faint at the sight of it get a Guinea Pig,
Well, while that's all true, you could get a hamster if your kid's responsible. You can make them read all about hamsters and then go out and buy a ham-ham AFTER she proves she can care for a hamster and not lose or kill it.It kinda works out since your kid will be at school while the hamster is sleeping and come back to find her hamster just waking up,ready to play!
well i think i hamster because hamster are fun pets to have! a guinea pigs are also a lot of fun but they take a lot more work. a hamsters is easier to take care of then a guinea pig especially for an 11 year old.
hope this helped
a boy is supposed to be calmer and more tamed, but a girl is just fine too.
Robo hamsters are a smaller variety that will fit in their hands a little better. They are also known for having a calmer temperament and not being as bitey.
Boy yes, girl no. She'll become sterile at 12-14 months.
A guinea pig would likely live longer.
the difference between a dwrf hamster and a regular hamster is the dwarf hamster will stay the same size wbut the regular hamster will keep gtrowing---- Well normally a dwarf is a lot smaller and a lot less sturdier. A dwarf is good for a fourteen year old and a reg. one is good for a nine year old. They both make awesome pets! You can be happy with either one.
About a year old
It depends whats shes in too but at ten i always wanted a hamster
If the 1 year old hamster is a syrian hamster DO NOT put another hamster with it. They are hamsters that NEED to be alone. If it is a dwarf, hamster, it might be ok. Dwarf hamsters like having each others company. However, if the 1 year old hamster is not use to other hamsters, it might not go over to well.
yes. my dwarf hamster has lived on his own all his life, and he is fine. is has outlived my other dwarfs by over 1 year. he is over 3
1 to 3 maybe even 6
i would say a Roborovski hamster because unlike Russian hamsters, they almost NEVER bite..... And they are so cute your friend (or family member) will never stop cuddling with it! P.S and the good thing for you is, the smaller the pet the smaller the smell! LOL They are only 4-5 cm!
yes and no cause the hamster could bit u
WOW! Nearly 3 years! I'm afraid that is in about 90-100 years old in human years. Dwarf hamsters usually only live until roughly a year an a half. well i don't have a Chinese dwarf hamster, but i have a Russian dwarf hamster and he is over 3 years old. he will be 3 years 1 month old on the 7th July. ive got no idea what age he is in human years i have no idea i need some help to find out
That is normal hamster behavior, nothing to worry about.
