The normal heart rate for adults is between 60-100 beats per minute. However, medications and certain conditions can raise and lower your normal pulse rate. Additionally, people who are very physically fit sometimes have a much lower resting heart rate. See your doctor to determine what a proper heart rate is for yourself personally.

It all depends on how active, what the circumstances are at the time of taking the pulse rate. A normal pulse rate while awake and sitting should be about 60-100. But while sleeping or resting without much activity can change these numbers. If it seems uncomfortably low for you contact a doctor for some advice or at least a little peace of mind! :)

Just as your heart rate requires time to elevate during fitness exercise, it also requires time for its rate to decrease after exercise. How the heart respond to the strenuous exercise?

when you exercise, the heart rate increases, (as does your breathing pace), so that more oxygen can be carried in the blood to your muscles. The more intense the exercise, the more your muscles have to work, so more oxygen is required and your heart rate will increase. The quicker you heart rate returns to normal, the better your fitness.
